One Week Down

Morning all,

One week on from implant surgery at UCLH with MR Ralph. So far seems to be going ok. Main issue a painful ache in my scrotum which doesn't seem to improve with pain relief. Bit of pain around the right side of my abdomen where the reservoir was placed but other than that feeling ok!

Finished off my antibiotic course this morning and have my first activation appointment is on the third of May so fingers crossed everything will be feeling much better by then as it's another two weeks away.

Thanks for all your previous posts. I have read lots of them prior to the op and they were invaluable in helping me come to a decision!

I forgot - Quick question about the hospital issue Jockstraps...... I have been religiously wearing once since discharge but changed to a pair of under armour support trunks today and a lot of the scrotal pain I was experiencing has eased off. How long did you have to wear the Jockstrap for? Any reason I should keep wearing it now?

Congratulations and well done. Give it time - it does get better. I am just 3 weeks in now and the pain and soreness is practically non existent

Underwear can be a challenge, and it varies from one individual to another. Personally I have found that wearing an AERO cricket jockstrap over a soft pair of boxers has been the best combination so far

Just read through some of your old posts and noticed your pump was located closer to your left testicle? Mine feels like it's in a similar position, behind them but definitely to the left. Did the doc say that was all fine? Has it moved at all?

I agree. Being horizontal as much as possible helped me. Congrats and best wishes.

Well, almost five months post surgery now and thought I would post a quick update.

All generally seems to be pretty good! I've made quite a bit of use of the new implant and after a couple of months with quite a lot of discomfort things seem to have settled down. I am back to being able to wear normal trousers and even jeans which at one point seemed a distant possibility.

One thing I have wondered about it the level of pain/discomfort felt after you have pumped to the max. I am cycling regularly and trying to make sure I pump up as much as possible. I do find that this causes a bit of aching and that the area around the cylinder tips can ache quite a bit afterwards, sometimes for the rest of the day!

Is this something other people have experienced? Just wondered if it was a normal result of cycling or something to mention to the docs before my next check up.

I am only 4 weeks out but when I pump to the absolute max it feels fine for about 15 minutes that begins to build and aching pressure until by the end of 30 minutes I am squirming even if I am sitting in a tub of hot water which does help. It is not intense pain but something you get enough of pretty quickly. My hope is I am getting something out of doing that
