I thought it would be responsible and helpful to y'all to return here after my post of 11 July in which I told the sad story of a second surgery to remove the Choloplast Titan implanted 8 weeks before.
As I mentioned in replying to a post after that, I didn't know how the "infection" started at 7-8 weeks ... and, it turns out, it was NOT an infection.
The good news is that all the cultures for bacterial infection, as of my post-op visit today, have come back negative. I have no infection.
The bad news is that the reason I had the removal was valid and unfortunate: the scrotum "rejected" (actually, my doc says that's the wrong word as plastic in your body does not qualify medically for a rejection: it's a "reaction"). The sac filled up with liquid trying to remove the pump: important is that it was not pus or an infection-related liquid, just the body saying "get thee hence, scrotal invader." (It seems to be that it's a scrotal phenomenon, based on the physiology of that organ -- is the scrotum an organ? -- so won't happen in the penis with the rods or the abdomen with the reservoir.)
I'm curious about how often this happens, so I'll have to do more research (anyone know?). I imagine it's pretty rare; I'm also wondering if Choloplast or AMS are higher on the incidence list....
But my main point: Not to worry too much about an eight-week infection. I'm sure they happen but it didn't, in fact, happen to me.

CHEDOG that is encouraging news it was not an infection. I been following this post and had that stuck in my head that an infection could crop up any time.
I am sure the junk down there does not like all the extra stuff to make it work better. It just needs to get over it

56 yr old-pc 2010 robotically removed mayo phoenix. Peyronie's with over 90 degree curve with mild ED. Trial and error until becoming bionic June 8, 2015 @University of Washington Med. Grafting to correct Peyronie's and implant done in one surgery.

Glad that I could provide optimism! This operation, what it aims to fix, and the ins-and-outs of the recovery, mess with our minds ... as well as other parts of our bodies!

AMS or Coloplast? If AMS what Model? And yes, it is tender down there!

So che, you got it removed and now what? Awesome it wasn't an infection. Glad to hear that. There is no way your scrotum could get used to it? Do you have any other options?

Removed the inflatable three-piece and replaced it with a semi-rigid one-piece. I can see how that works when I'm okayed to have intercourse and I can have another surgery in about six months to replace it with a three-piece (I read about one or two others here who had this regimen).
My doctor was not sure it was an infection even when she said it should be taken out but there was no way that it could have stayed: the sac was filled with liquid; I suppose there could have been draining attempts, etc., but since it might have been infected, we didn't discus that.
I asked if, hypothetically, if we wanted to take the risk, we could have replaced the one in there with a new one. She said it would have been possible (but didn't really seem interested in that speculation); I have read that someone on this forum convinced his doc to do that, but I don't know if it worked out.
Yeah, no infection is great -- thanks. Just disappointment that I went through what we all know we have to go through and reached eight weeks, ready to go, and then -- poof! -- back in surgery and something else to see what's what.

I wonder if the anti bacterial coating caused the inflamitory response by your scrotum? Seems like I read one time that the surgeon can make little nicks in the muscle on the inside of the scrotum and it 1) does not scrunch up tight like when you are cold and does not react negatively to the new neighbor. d
LGX 21cm .Milam 01/13/16. Horror; both service and surgical outcome. hated infrapubic installation. Kramer revision 03/01/17. 22cm Titan +1.5cm extender. Those who think their opinion is the only one that matters are a danger to themselves and others.

I'll have to look into that hypothesis. Thanks for sharing it.

Chedog, I had my IPP surgery on June 29, 2015. While I have not asked my doctor about this, I have noticed that although my scrotum swelling is nonexistent, my scrotum hangs much larger than before. In fact it is the size of my palm. My doctor must have nicked my cremaster muscle which pulls and releases the scrotum when he reduced the scrotal webbing to provide my penis with more usable length. I have not experienced any rejection issues. My doctor is Robert Cornell in Houston.

chiali09, I was implanted with the Titian coloplast, 18cm plus 4cm rear tip, total of 22cm. In US that is 8.6 inches, all but 7 inches will be inside the body.
ED since my late 30's. Implanted 7/7/15 Titan Coloplast 18cm +4 cm extenders. Revision Jan 2017
