As for getting short of breath during PIV sex, try "the butterfly" with legs up, or other variations with knees bent 90 degrees, legs wrapped around, or resting on something behind. It take less intense breathing, good leverage to go deep, and leaves at least one hand free to stimulate her in other ways :) It took some practice (and pillows), but now it's our favorite PIV sex position. Also, it might help your wife's back with position and less pressure.

I'm now getting short of breath long before my dick needs a break! I probably need to work on my aerobic fitness a bit more. Overall I'm still really happy with how things are going and I think I can now see the "new normal" on the horizon.

Kodixx, our bed is pretty high off the floor, so to do the butterfly position, I would have to stand and put her legs on my shoulders. I think she could do it, but she's not as flexible as she used to be. lol She is 62. The butterfly that I looked up, showed that the woman had a pillow under her head to also help.
When we are really getting into a passionate missionary, my wife will wrap her legs around my waist and cross them and that gives pretty good deep penetration.

So, which position is your favorite?

You mentioned another one where you place pillows on either side of you I'm guessing so that her legs will be supported and she won't get so tired trying to hold them up. I guess it takes a little practice to get in position and slide the pillows over under her legs. Have you also placed a pillow under her hip and back area to raise her up more for better penetration and to help her back.
My wife isn't crazy about doing radical positions but she will try every now and then. One night I was having trouble climaxing and I got her to do the butterfly on the side of the bed but probably didn't support her in the right ways and we did the doggy with her leaning on the bed and me standing up behind her. She went along with all of them and I still couldn't cum and eventually gave up and I jerked off while she caressed and kissed me and I was able to cum.
She said to me a couple days later that she had back pain for a couple days after that session.
I'd like to add a little more spice in our love making but I don't want to hurt her.

SWorks, enjoyed reading your post and hang in there ! FWIW, we try different positions, or variations of positions, and sometimes we just end up laughing our asses off at how much we struggle to get them to work for us -- or not work for us :) For "the butterfly", its me standing and her at the side of the bed. Once I got accustomed to it, me standing works great. We have one of those long multi-section pillows that we put under her, and it keeps her inclined upward toward me. Also we have a recliner chair near the bed, and I drag it over close to the side of the bed with the armrest almost against the backs of my legs.

We've tried:
- legs up (doesn't work for us)
- knees bent a lot with feet on chest (doesn't work well)
- knees bent 90 degrees me holding her thighs (kind of fun as I pull her to me while thrusting but no free hands)
- legs wrapped around my waist (gives her control but gets uncomfortable for her after awhile)
- her legs resting flat behind me on the chair (works but not very comfortable for her)

But the best, especially for long duration, is having her legs bent and her feet resting on the chair arm behind me. That is comfortable for her, good for her back, keeps one or both of my hands free (for other fun stuff), and I can still grab behind her knees and pull her hard to me as I thrust. Also, when I really want to thrust hard and deep, I lean forward over her with my hands on the bed and forearms against the tops of her shoulders to brace her for hard thrusting. Then, I lean in and use my weight to help drive as deep as possible :) :) At that point she usually lifts her legs and wraps them around my waist again.

Chuck, in the Air Force that's what we call expedient methods :!:    Use what you have to get the job done :!: :D
I can see the look on my wife's face, if I would try to drag one of the leather swivel chairs we have in our bedroom over to the edge of the bed
I'll let you know if I find any other methods that work.

I'm hanging in there, enjoying my Bionic Dick as much as possible

Chuck, Similarly when we used to do the "butterfly" position in the past, I would have her lie with her legs over the end of the bed with a couple of pillows under her ass and hips. Then I would stand at the end of the bed with both her legs over my shoulders. It was great for depth of thrusting and I remember some very intense orgasms for both of us as I think it's good for clitoral stimulation. She is a couple of years younger than me but less active. With getting older and with her hip replacement I'm reluctant to suggest trying it again, although I was tempted earlier this week.

Stan, I found that USAF manual online but I was so disappointed that none of those positions are in it  !

My understanding is that after an implant that after say three or maybe 4 months after everything would seem normal when it comes to having sex - aside from having to pump it up…. and staying hard etc.
When you guys are now discussing trying different sex positions is it because:-
a) You can and want to try different things or
b) You are sort of forced to because what you could do before with a ‘normal’ penis is now not possible or perhaps more difficult to do with an implant?

Probably everyone will have a different answer depending on how long since surgery and other factors. In my own case I'm fairly recently implanted (13 weeks) after 3 years of post prostatectomy profound ED (100% limp dick 24/7). During that period it was definitely "Use what you have to get the job done", as I couldn't get a "normal" usable erection for most of it. Forget about positions, during that time I was happy to fuck in any way that even vaguely resembled "normal" sex and felt good. After implant surgery there is temporary discomfort (hopefully) that most guys seem to experience in varying degrees. I would say that I have probably had a fairly easy recovery so far, but even so initially sex was quite uncomfortable and somewhat challenging. Apart from pain during the first few attempts at PIV sex I was also slipping out quite a lot, which was very frustrating. After a number of weeks the pain has mostly gone, I can now basically thrust indefinitely without slipping out, and sex is pleasurable overall. I can sometimes orgasm, but there can also be residual discomfort which causes me to think about trying different things. Might also be a spark of "I can now do whatever I want", so imagination kicks in. Apart from considering different sex positions, improving comfort and satisfaction can also be as simple as adjusting the firmness of the implant by deflating or further inflating it.

Wodjathat, I agree with John that its a mix of things. When you've had to go without that capability for what seems like forever, and suddenly it's back again, it's absolutely time to celebrate ! After spending so much time thinking of what we could be doing if I could just ------- now it's time to go do it :) But as described before, there's some pain while recovering, so that leads to finding positions that cause less pain and discomfort than others. You would think that would be a bad thing, but so far for us, it's felt more adventuresome, and fun, and sometimes hilarious :) I guess it depends on how you approach it. We choose to focus on it being a fresh opportunity rather than a burden.
