Hi guys,
I'm 43, ED since late 20's. Medication is a bit hit and miss. I'm currently taking 20mg Cialis and 100mg Viagra (not at the same time), I'm getting a bit sick of timing tablets, them not working or working for a little bit.
I actually think it's screwed with my libido a fair bit.
I've been doing a heap of research on implants and all the pro and cons and the risks associated with them.
My wife wanted me to talk to a sex positive therapist before I went down that path which I didn't think was a bad idea.
I saw a therapist last week and she was totally against implants. She wants me to continue with oral medications as long as I can and spoke highly of injections, trimix etc.
I'm not super keen on injections, especially with the idea that can cause internal scarring and potentiallt make things more complicated for getting an implant.
My question is, how many of you guys went from oral medication straight to implants? Or only briefly tried injections?
How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?

Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
Hi
I'l 46 yo and basically had same issue like you. I didn't wanted to try injections for the same reason as you and will get implanted tomorrow. Hope it's the good choice.

Thanks Nico, I hope it all goes well for you!
It's good to get feedback from someone that's a similar age to me. I know there are a few younger guys with some unique conditions but most people that seem to be getting them are 55 plus, I kind of feel like we're in this weird age group in the middle.
Were the pills working at all for you in the end?

Yeah seems like we are on the same boat!
I've tried pills and worked quite well. I could get sufficient erections for a penetration but not very firm and i must push on my perineal muscles to get a little bit harder and this stimulates the prostate who stimulates ejaculation. Long story short, my sex intercourse became most like a nightmare where i'm more anxios than excited.
At the beginning i thought it was a testosterone problem as my libido was falling but even if i'm in the lower limit of testosterone, the problem is probably anxiety and my venous leakage.
Pills give me headache and the injection that they made at hospital for echography didn't worked. So i skip injections, not only because it didn't worked but overall because i have a leakage problem, the problem wont get better while i'll become older so, one day or another i have to get an implant. My choice is to get it as soon as i can. We dont know what tomorrow deserves us and don't want my wife to be denied a good penetration:-)
So to answer your question, you are not the only one.
I'm i right? Dont know! I must confess that as time approaches some anxiety shots in my mind but, all other brothers went through the same feelings and mostly dont regret, so tomorrow i'll be fixed

Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
Hi mate.
I am 41 and got my implant 22 days ago, after 20 years of pills and 5 years of injections.
So far i can´t tell about the outcome of my implant, because it´s too early.
But I can tell I have waited too long to get the implant. Pills and injections always been a mess and i feel I have missed many good years by waiting with the implant.
Don´t listen to what other people tell you who are not in the same boat as you.
Ask yourself only one question: Are you satisfied with pills or the idea of doing injections (wiich means never able to be sponteanous and risk of priapism)? If yes, stick to it.
If no, don´t waste time and get the implant!
The ealier the better. My sugery was really complicated because of PD. It would have been much easier if i didn´t wait so many years.

Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
I am 53.5 years old and skipped injections, only 11 days after the surgery, too early to give a review. But I am happy with my decision, it is very personal, and there are opinions here and there, you are younger and can try injections in the first stage, from a test I did here, most of the people who received injections and some were very satisfied, in the end, they had implant surgery. The most important thing is that once you decide on something, really try and don't look back. successfully.
Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
I'm older but honestly wish I would have skipped injections. Both pills and injections really force you to schedule sex, which to me is a libido killer. But if you intend to have your medical insurance cover the procedure, they may require you to try injections. A good men's sexual health urologist would probably do a doppler test on your first visit, which is an injection to elicit an erection and then an ultrasound to determine the blood flow in your penis.
Otherwise, IMHO that counselor you saw is full of crap. If pills are unreliable why keep taking them? An implant is a safe surgery with very good results for most. Couple of weeks to heal up and you can make the wife happy anytime you want.

I skipped injections and went straight to implant. Wish I had done it decades ago. Pills and injections might be able to sometimes get you hard, but if they are not solving the problem of giving you a satisfying sex life, then it might be time for implant. It certainly was for me.
50. Implanted 5/21/2024 at Kaiser SSF. AMS 700 CX 21cm, 3cm RTE. Penoscrotal. Venous leak my whole life. Pills helped, but hated the side effects; worked less as I aged. Skipped injections. Grateful to bionic brotherhood that helped me make this decision.
Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
After my prostatectomy I did 8 pills/shots routine for about 3 months.
I hated every second of it
The first time I injected the needle pushed in too far and the solution came right back out of my urethra.
The pills weren't much better either, very hit or miss.
Plus scheduling sexual encounters was a total turn off for both me and my wife.
I was in my 50's when prostate cancer reared its ugly head and other then reading about other men's impotence it was something I had Never dealt with.
After the 90 days of nightmare pills and injections I opted for the implant.
1000% satisfied with the decision I made
I can't imagine how shitty you guys must have felt dealing with this for years or decades.
Until you have a rock hard erection that can outlast any 18 year old kid -you truly won't understand how incredible this technology truly is
Best gift I ever gave myself.
Period.

Re: How common is it to skip injections and go straight for implant?
for me, 100% common. It's been in my signature since the day I found FT. No thanks to drawing a shot, injecting into my penis and then hoping for the best with my wife. I endured those days with pills, ZERO reason to endure even one day more with injections.
