Pumping Pain

Postby Ephi82 » Sat Apr 19, 2025 8:49 am

Hi, Im two weeks post op and my Dr said I have healed quickly. He said I can do a little pump practice now, pumping a slight amount and then deflating, and when I get to three weeks, I can start pumping to a useful erection.

My question is how much pain do you have when pumping? 1-10 scale?

How does it compare to pain that you had in the first few days post op?

Is it a sharp pain, or is it more of a tenderness/soreness?

How long does the pain/ discomfort last?

I tried a search to get these answers but didn’t come up with much.

I appreciate hearing from folks who have gone through this phase of recovery! Thanks

Congratulations, you need to cycle in a hot shower or tub if you are all healed up in your scrotum, get everything loose and pliable, hit the deflate button then squeeze that pump one quick firm pump, you should feel the valve seat and start pumping from there, count your pumps and keep up with them daily. Pump up as much as you can daily. Pain will ease up in a month or so.

I'm just over 6 weeks post op and 5 or 6 days into cycling. At 2 weeks, yes I would suggest starting slowly and building up your tolerance.
I was 20% erect for 6 weeks before starting to cycle, which doesn't sound much but my dick was surprisingly very hard 24/7.
You will have total control over what level of discomfort you can tolerate. So it's kind of self governing to some extent.
I'm a bit further along and trying to start getting length back and a very usable erection for sex etc.
So I'm pumping to the highest level that I can (sensibly) tolerate. In my own experience it's not excruciating pain, but it can be quite uncomfortable. It's maybe a 6 or 7 but that's very subjective. If you've ever used a vacuum pump (VED) and overpumped it, it's something similar but more intense.
I agree with wilsonmill that hot water helps relieve the discomfort. I mostly cycle in the shower and use a handheld shower head to spray my bits before, during and after. There is also residual discomfort immediately after you finish and deflate, but it goes away fairly quickly. I have some level of tenderness/soreness all the time but don't really notice it unless I think about it, or need to touch my dick for some reason. I'm finding that cycling is already becoming more tolerable even after just a week or so of doing it. Don't forget you that are also stimulating a very sensitive organ used for sexual pleasure. I''m finding it can be a mix of pain and pleasure simultaneously at times, which is not all bad. It's hard to compare with the post op pain, which was more of an ache.

Everybody’s pain tolerance is different but I pumped til it started getting uncomfortable then every few minutes added another pump as things stretched out. Continued to do this til it hurts then stop and keep it there for as long as I could take… generally 20-30 minutes. Then deflate. If you can’t take but 5-10 then do that and try for 10-12 next time. Do what you can and it will work out. You will find over several months that you can pump more and more and hold it longer, just takes time. I maxed my time at 30 minutes twice a day for most of the first year. By the 8-9 month it was easy and could pump rock hard and keep as long as I wanted, so was probably good enough as I had regained my full length and additional girth by this time. After the 12 months I just pump when I have sex or for personal reasons or if I just want to feel hard. Been the best 3 years out of the last decade!!!

I ended up cycling early - the pain can be a bit much when you do it early especially in your cruss. Listen to your body - it will tell you when you've had enough - and if it hurts - stop.

Thanks for all the responses. I just sat in the bath and I’m pretty happy.

I was able to easily find my pump, identified the deflate button, and then decided to try it out.

I put in about six pumps, without any pain at all, other than a pinchy hurt where I squeezed the pump through my scrotal tissue. My boy was pretty firm, and a noticeable increase in girth and length. I sat in the bath, manipulating it side to side and up and down for a while and then easily found and press the deflate button.

I’m going to guess that next time I do it, and pump 10 times, I’m going to feel more discomfort, but I’m pretty encouraged about it all tonight!

Great work! Sounds like you are right on track. Yes, more pumps = more discomfort but I'm now finding that it's noticeably easing after a couple of weeks cycling 2-3 times a day.
