Scheduled a consult but still have some uneasiness about a few things

Postby Markc2008 » Tue Feb 11, 2025 8:51 am

So I am right on that edge from going ahead and getting the surgery done. I’m 42 years old and have pssd. I do still have some function with injections and higher doses of pills, however, the pills are now inconsistent and causing very chronic sinus infections. The injections do work but it is really hard to be spontaneous with them. It is honestly really hard to be spontaneous with either being that it takes such high doses of the pills. So with that being said I am really looking hard at the surgery still. I do have a few things I hoped I could get some reassurance on:

1) is floppy glans very common? The last thing I would want is to take the plunge with some remaining function to have this. I plan to use Clavelle so is this just something where experience matters?

2) Cold to the touch.. with less blood there does the penis feel cold or foreign?

3)the lines or hoses.. do they protrude out giving the penis an unnatural look? I am married and my wife is supportive but I want her to be able to forget I even have an implant when I’m healed. I don’t want it to look fake.

4)size.. I know everyone is concerned about this and it comes up alot but with part of my pssd I have hard flaccid. With pde5s etc I can get it to loosen up but I’m worried the dr will see it in its hard flaccid state and undersize me or not stretch it enough. Also, what is the general cycling consensus on time to cycle back to original size?

5) engorging.. Will my head engorge or will I still have to take pills on top of having the surgery for it to look like a normal hard penis?

That’s all I can think of. I’m wanting to do it, but I also don’t want to regret it or worse off my wife to. Having a floppy head or losing an inch of length etc would all put me in that boat. I know we see a lot of people come back with issues on the forums and the ones that go smoothly not as much, but I’d really love some feedback. I just want to be. Normal again.. it’s draining worrying about this all of the time and it has not been good for my mental health or confidence.

Pills and injections are not good for spontaneous activity. Viagra caused me migraines, Trimix just became unreliable along with the soreness all day the next day. Getting the surgery you have nothing to worry about. Your wife will love it.
1. Floppy glans- if your glans engorge now it will after the implant once you heal up.
2. Cold to the touch- When flaccid my penis tends to be cool. When aroused and blood flows it's just as warm as always.
3. Lines & Hoses- You'll be able to feel them if you poke around. Once erect there is no difference in look or feel.
4. Size- My theory is size is lost due to lack of erections, noy because of the implant. Months and years of not having erections can lead to size loss. So, not getting the implant asap may be the reason some guys report size loss. I fought ED for 13 years and after my implant I am close to a one inch loss. Cycling is what many call the key to regaining size.
5. Engorgement- If you have good glans engorgement now that should return after you are healed up. Glans engorgement is controlled from a different blood supply than the corpus.
Remember that most of the posts here are guys with issues or problems. This forum, as much good info as it has, is not a good representation of implanted men. The happy no problem guys are busy using theirs, not posting here.

If you haven't already lost size, with a good surgeon, you won't lose anything. I gained just over 1/4" not that I'm measuring lol.

Glans is fine and same size as ever. Don't overthink it (that's easy for me to say since I'm not 42.
86 years
Inject testosterone weekly.
Implant on 1/22/19 by Dr Avila.
Scrotal, hor. incision just over 1"
18cm AMS 700 CX, 3.5cm RTE 100cc res
Gleason 6 prostate cancer. Monitoring it for now.
Update: On my last biopsies the cancer wasn't found.

Yeah I mean 1/4” isn’t anything I’m going to lose sleep over but when you see people saying 1-2” lost that’s terrifying

Just sent you an PM regarding your choice of the Titan.
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant. 6.4 inches bone pressed length to tip, 5 inches girth base, 4.5 inches girth mid-shaft.

In my opinion, you really need to be at the point where you feel you have "nothing left to lose" regarding penile function before you go for the implant. By your post OP it sounds like you are not in that position yet. You need to be ready to accept tradeoffs including loss of size, needing to still take pills to get engorgement, visible tubing protruding, etc in order to be able to have sex again.

I totally agree with Old Guy as usual! I’ll add that going with Clavel should be the key to being properly sized and easier recovery and tubes not showing! Several of your questions are Drs skills related and from what I’ve read Clavel is one of the very best!
At first it’s totally normal to be around an inch short immediately after first inflation but cycling should fix that. Floppy glands is a proper sizing thing also. Been almost 3 years since I was implanted and on days I will have sex I still use 5-10mg of cialis and it dramatically helps engorgement.I’ll mention that 5-10 mg prior to surgery made no noticeable difference at all!
I was at a very similar place your at when I did my implant and only regretted not doing it a couple years earlier. Saying all that, you need to go into it totally positive, and with the mindset that you’re totally ready to do this.
It take a few months to feel confident in using your newly implanted dick and 4/6 months before it feels normal. After 8-10 months it’s just your new normal and you’ll rarely be concerned with it at all! First few months can be tough but at your age and using Dr Clavel it should be a great results whenever you decide to do it
59 years old ED started mid 40s pills failed after 10 years. Injections works but diminishing results with pain. Implanted 5-22 Baylor,Scott, and White Dallas.Dr Michael Wierschem, infrapubic Coloplast with Classic pump 20cm and 1cm RTE. Going strong

Thanks guys. Yeah that’s what concerns me is still having some function should I wait until a not purely positive outcome doesn’t matter as much or go ahead and go for it. I don’t want to come out regretting it because I lost a bunch of size which I’m average at best so don’t have a whole lot I can afford to lose or it not looking totally normal but which is another big concern

You already mentioned that pills are no longer working except in huge doses (not safe) and injections are a pain to use (my thought too). Check out the pics some implanted guys have posted. Their dicks all look normal, right? In my opinion I would rather have a functional dick instead of a floppy one even if it means losing a bit of length. The surgeon you picked is one of the best and I'm sure he will size you well.
