Because of how my pump sits, I cradle it with my fingers and pump with my thumb. My left thumb suffers from basal arthritis (osteo). My right hand is dominant so even though it also has thumb arthritis, I have more grip with my right thumb. The thing is, from my left thumb's perspective, the bulb is solid rock hard. It still is hard from the right but the extra pressure I get will make the valve squeal just a bit and then my tips inside the glans start to hurt (a good hurt 'cause I know it's still doing something)
