Have you guys watched the vids of the surgeries done on us when being implanted?
They are brutal, hence the soreness. When in operating room, the Dr. has several implants at his disposal. I can say that because my Dr. did not know what he was getting into when looking in to see if my 3-piece was salvageable. It was either replace with another 3-piece, or put in malleable because it was infected...he put in the malleable because it was infected.
I sent in a before pic of myself to give him an idea of what I had, he is my 3rd Dr. so he did not get a chance to do the stretch test of the 1st Dr.

I’ve got good news for you! Your surgeon is going to put you under anesthesia. This is going to temporarily stop any reactions that your body could possibly have to cause shrinkage… if anything, this is going to work in your favor… If you are going to the surgeon that I think you are, you are in such amazing hands… Best of luck, my friend!

I believe that is the nerve-block (or nerve anesthetizing) portion of the anesthesia. I believe the IV anesthesia just "turns off" the brain during the operation but the nerve-block stops the reactions to spinal reflexes such as penile reaction to the cold, etc.

I want to thank all of you who have helped me through this process. All of my questions have been answered now its time to hand the keys over to the Surgeon. I have a great confidence in his ability and hopefully I'll be in a different place in a few months. Anxiety is slowly going away and I am ready to get this done. If it wasn't for this website I would have already canceled. Again thanks to all
