What is the procedure to get a replacement if AMS implant fails under 10 years

I have seen this 10 year warrantee figure everywhere. Even doctor talk about it. But do you have
a warantee card? I can't see any information on the AMS website.

I will be getting implanted next week so just curious.

Just like any warranty, *IF* your implant fails before 10 years, its free, lol. But you still have to pay for the surgery:).

i think it is reasonable to ask the front desk staff from your surgeon's office for some sort of written note stating what the terms of the ten year warranty would be.

Agree with others, there are a number of "warranties" out there. None of them are in writing as far as i can tell. I think they only apply to cases where you are a cash pay and not an insurance pay patient. I have heard that the implant companies give a lifetime warranty for the device, maybe, but remember that the device is only 9,000 of the total cost (roughly 25,000 dollars). the rest of the cost is for the hospital (?11,000 dollars) and for the surgeon (??5,000 dollars). I can imagine a surgeon waiving the 5,000 cost for their part if the thing fails before ten years. I do not think that the hospital ever waives their cost.

Of course, regarding the above, I really have NO IDEA WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT since i have never seen a docuument outlining the terms of the warranty.

Also, if the surgeon retires or moves or changes practice, then the warranty goes away.

So, at best, it is likely that all you can hope for is that you might get coloplast or AMS to give you the replacement for free. This will only be of help to you if you are a cash pay (not insurance) patient.
