I'll be going home with a drain but not a catheter after surgery

I did not have a drain. Resident removed the cath the next morning in the hospital. It was not bad at all. She just puled it out with a firm steady pull. A little discomfort when it was being pulled out and afterwards very little then nothing. Much easier than the wheel chair ride out of the hospital or the plane ride home.

While in the hospital over night my worst discomfort was from where the catheter left the penis.
My nurse (male) also did the count of 3, but I didn't notice significant pain.
Next, he removed all the dressings and that hurt like hell.

Now 6 days post-op, I notice the "snake eyes". Hope they don't leave marks.
I wish they wouldn't do that, but if it's for the best, I'll handle it.

I don't notice it at all and, actually, until you just mentioned it, I had forgotten all about it. If they didn't do that, it would be difficult to get the tips right up in the glans..

Wow. I feel like my experience is unique. Not good or bad. Just unique.

Worst part of my recovery was my catheter. Doc wanted it in for 3 says. I could only tolerate it for just shy of 2. I asked doc purpose of catheter. He said so I could maintain bedrest. I gladly walked to bathroom in place of not getting up at all with catheter. I took it out smoothly and painlessly. Any similar experiences?

No problem with shaft pain. None. Just pain with deflation for which I still need percocet for. Swelling go down sat by day.

Well-sorry if I went off topic a little bit. Consider it an update on my recovery.

I really wanted out of there but didn't feel an urge to urinate.
I decided to try to squeeze some out anyway.
At first just a little blood came out, but some pee did also come out.
Not many CCs but I explained and he bought it.

Peed a little blood only once more at home and now peeing pretty normally.
I did have the errant shot early on, but it straightened out.
I did bring home the container (good advice) and it saved me a problem with my wife.

A couple days after I went home (catheter removed 24 hours after surgery, in hospital), I peed a little blood. I called my medical team about it. It was a non-issue and probably just a little blood clot formed with the catheter during surgery that finally dissolved and let loose after a couple days.

Caution is my watchword, especially when it comes to potential infection problems in that part of my body.

I had no drain. Where do they put it? In your scrotum? I have a very elastic urethra. Peed around the catheter several times all over myself and the bed. Very glad to have it removed. The nurse made such a fuss like I would die from pain. Hardly felt even mild discomfort. Just happy it was gone.
