Of course it’s your choice on smoking. But here’s a visual of what you’re doing to you lungs! Not to mention the vasculature of your whole body being affected. Smokers lung is the black one.

Warning: Contrary Opinion.

I smoke like a chimney. Having said that, I should add that I smoke a pipe, from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed, and yes, I am getting a lot of smoke in my lungs. I'm also "healthy as a horse." At 59, my implant (on Jan 7) was the first operation I'd ever had in my life. Went to the Doc for a one-week check-up a few days, and he was amazed at how quickly I'd healed. He had scheduled my deflate for Jan 22 (two weeks out from the operation), but said he'd be perfectly comfortable deflating now because I had healed so well.

My family has always smoked. My mom is 80 and runs circles around everyone half her age. Her dad lived to 100. His mom lived to 98. All walked around their entire lives with butts hanging out of their mouths.

Smoking is not an invention of Reynolds or Philip Morris. It has been around in every culture since the dawn of time. (What IS new is the chemical-added crap in cigarettes; point well taken; but that's also why I smoke pipe tobacco.)

I also ride my motorcycle without a helmet, drive without using my seatbelt, drink alcohol every day, and fuck without protection. I am risk-tolerant. On the other hand, I also exercise, work hard, and eat right (I havent had a soda or a fast food meal in over three decades - we grow as much of our own food as possible, and cook all meals from scratch at home.)

I intend to enjoy every moment of every day, and smoking is part of that. C'est la vie.
