Update on my Situation

Postby Genesis » Fri Nov 03, 2017 7:18 pm

Update:

My previous thread, looking for a surgeon: viewtopic.php?t=8925

Good News! Found a Surgeon who is local and met my criteria. His name is Dr. Sawh and his office is in Jupiter.
I asked him about his experience and he said the implant was his favorite surgery to perform, that he studied under one of the best, and routinely performs the procedure on weekends in Orlando and also for Dr. Perito in Miami, when Perito has too many patients at the same time. His father is also a prominent urologist.

I need to have the Doppler test performed again ( last time was 16 years ago) before we start scheduling for surgery but I'm feeling excited and anxious. Hoping my insurance will cover the costs and everything goes relatively smoothly.
Feeling very fortunate that I found Dr. Sawh.

My impotency has been a lifelong affliction that really screwed with my head during my formative years. I couldn't understand why I did not have spontaneous erections like everyone else, so I made up excuses and stories in my head ( religious explanations or that when I met the right girl everything would magically fall in to place).
Of course that never happened so I avoided relationships, because of my shame and feelings of inadequacy.
Even with my family and close friends I grew up with,my secret became toxic, and poisoned those relationships too.

I'm ready to finally deal with this issue and start making up for lost time.

Congrats! Let the resurrection begin. Please document the process thoroughly, your experience, surgical results, and sexual satisfaction etc. It seems many people benefit from reading the experiences of others but fail to provide comprehensive records themselves.

You have everything to gain.

Peyronie's: 6 months, indents cause loss of 0.5 inches of girth, fibrosis growing, caused ED.
ED: 10mg Cialis daily, getting headaches, not interested in VED/injections.
Considering implant to avoid a lifetime of cialis and to correct deformity.

Genesis,
As a victim of ED for 30 years and recently implanted, I feel your pain and frustration. I hope your Doppler results come out as they need to so up you can move forward with your life. Getting the implant has been amazing for me and my wife.

Greg
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Thanks Geoph!
I will be the first to admit that I'm not the most thorough when it comes to documenting my experiences but I will promise to keep you up to date.
I credit FrankTalk with giving me the confidence to go forward with the implant. Just hearing other men share their success stories made all the difference.
I cannot thank this community enough.

Greg, thank you for the well wishes. I'm feeling optimistic and better than I have in a long time.
It's so encouraging to hear the implant has been a success for you!
I do have a few nagging concerns about the implant, mostly about proper sizing and floppy head.
The glans is by far the most impressive part of my member and I really would be disappointed to lose the fullness in the head.
How common would you say floppy glans are with the implant? Would you feel comfortable sharing your personal experience here?

Regardless, these are just minute details in the long run. I just want a functional member.

My understanding is that floppy glans happens when the implant is undersized and the tip of the implant stops short of the galns. A properly sized implant would have the tips 2 thirds the way in the glans when flaccid and even deeper when inflated. Ways to avoid floppy glans:
- Choose an experienced surgeon and discuss sizing with him/her to set your expectations before hand.
- Make your surgeon job easier by using vaccum pump or injection for extended period before the implant surgery.

Soft glan is different and very common with implant as the glans do not get erected. To explain soft glans, below are 2 pictures for my member: one before the implant with heavy injection, you could see the glans full and erect, the other one with the implant (4 weeks post-op) and you could see the glans are not that full. I was told that with proper arousal, I could get my glans full again, but we'll see.
Good luck
Matt

Genesis,
Getting an implant is a big step. If you have concerns you have to be open with your surgeon and express what you are concerned about. I fully trusted my surgeon to do a great job, but I still asked questions or brought up issues. My approach was letting him know I had joined an online support group and a few other guys had mentioned floppy glans and said it seemed like their implant did not go far enough into the glans and wondered if he had ever experienced that problem because I didn't want that issue. I figured that way I planted the seed of my concern, my expectation, and I didn't come across to him as untrusting.

As Matt mentioned, floppy glans and soft glans are different. My implant extends about 3/4 of the way up into my glass so there is no ability for it to be floppy. If a surgeon is quick, careless, or if there is scar tissue within the glans the implant can't get past, that will lead to the floppiness you are afraid of.

Some men say their glans still get engorged after implant. For some it still happens early on and others say it comes back after some time. For others it does not happen. In my case I am almost 7 weeks post-op and my glans has not engorged yet, but I am still hopeful it might.

When a guy gets an implant his shaft is generally fuller and that then makes the glans appear less significant than it does prior to surgery. Mine has enough of a flair to the mushroom head that it looks pretty much like a natural erection unless you look at the glans very closely and definitely when you touch it and see that the head is not firm like it would be with a natural erection.

In a perfect world I would love for my glans to get engorged like it once did, but in the real world, I am very satisfied that I know have a dick that gets rock hard when I want to to and my glans is stable so I can penetrate my wife with ease. Life is great.

I have attached a few photos to show you my situation. Since you are proud of your glans now, I assume yours is prominent. If so, you may still have prominence, whether it not it will engorge after implant.

A lot of guys who are considering implants also wonder if us guys with implants still have any natural feelings. Yes, I certainly do. I included one photo that shows how much pre-cum was generated just pumping up and holding my dick for pix. I am like a teenager again!!!

Good Luck,
Greg

Medhatg,
Thanks for the detailed response and the photo evidence. Congrats on the very recent successful operation!
That does not appear floppy at all you are only 4 weeks post-op, looks like your surgeon did a fantastic job.
You seem to be healing extremely well too, are you able to take it for a test drive yet?
How far does the tubing go into your glans? Will you be completely satisfied with the firmness of the glans if it does not improve at all?

Greg, another very recent success story!! You must be loving life right now. @ taking dick pics like a teenager.
looks like your new friend is ready to play.

Thanks for the spot on advice. That's exactly what I intend to do as far as raising my concerns to my surgeon in a respectful way; particularly with what implant to go with, sizing, floppy glans, and rte's.
I still don't fully understand how rte's work and the pros and cons of sizing short or long.

I'm pretty sure there is no scar tissue, so if he gets the sizing right and everything goes as planned, I will be very pleased with the final result! I will be over the moon if my glans can still get engorged.
Seeing all these recent success stories is making the wait nearly unbearable. I'm ready to start repopulating the planet.

Genesis,
I truly am loving life. I have always been a positive person, but my wife mentioned one day that I seem to have a smile inside that is bursting out of me.

Regarding Implant sizing it really is not good to be too short or too long. Too short can create the floppy glans referenced in your post and too long can put to much pressure on your penis and cause both pain and potential problems. The RTE’s help get perfect sizing. I have an 18cm implant with 3cm of RTE. I noticed a couple guys here have 21cm implants and adkedmy doc why he chose my way when both equal 21cm. He said there are several factors. Each of us has a portion of our penis that is internal. Depending on the amount that’s inside, there may be a need for the RTE. I am grateful for what he did with me. I love it!!!
