How long have FT Implants lasted -- over 10 years? Anyone?

Postby treetop » Thu Jun 22, 2017 12:44 pm

I started this post because of the "Has ANY LGX lasted 10 years?? " post.

My question is, how long have people here on Frank Talk had their implants?

Anyone over 5 years? 8 years? Longer?

And is the LGX or Titan?..

Just wondering what a real life outlook would be.

Thanks.

True, however there may be members who had their implant for a number of years prior to FrankTalk.

Implants have been around a long time, so I am hoping to hear from someone who has had one long enough to wear it out :)

And love hearing replys from anyone who has one as well.

You can read about the history of implants with me below. (And that was before I joined FT.)

My LGX blew out (left cylinder) after just 4.5 years. I had been told it would last 10 years or longer. That one cost me just over $20,000 dollars. My most recent implant, a CX, was put in just a few weeks ago, and it cost me $10,000. Hopefully it will last longer than the LGX did.

Good info....

I am hoping to see posts on here from men who have had implants lasting 5 years, maybe 8 years,.. or more??

But none yet... a little disappointing so far.

David_R just said twelve years.
36 years old. Coloplast Titan OTR implanted on 6/1/2017 infrapubically. 20 cm cylinders (no rear tip extenders) with a 125 ml reservoir. So far so good!

One explanation is that implants are not lasting very long.

Another is that the survey is self-selectong. That is, that implantees over 8 years are simply not participating in FrankTalk any more.

Another explanation is that the implantees are expiring before the implants.

Possibly a better way to ask would be to survey those men on FrankTalk who have a second or third implant how long their prior implant lasted and why the revision - implant failure or other cause.

Or, ask surgeons who have done revisions about the replaced implant's history.
