Implant 9/29/23 - Dr. Eid

Postby Kalidestroyer » Wed Sep 27, 2023 2:11 pm

Im scheduled for surgery in 2 days, on 9/29/23 with Dr EID. Some history about me: 42 year old with “minor” penile fracture in 2004 where I did not seek/receive medical immediate medical treatment - relatively noticeable but small hematoma - did take trental and cialis upon seeing Dr after 6 weeks; over time there was adequate erectile function if sufficiently high dose of cialis was used however some bending resulted and diagnosed with peyronies - though dont have substantial bending as is seen in severe cases; penis fibrosis did develop after many years though with cialis erection sufficient for penetration was possible; ejaculation was more premature post 2004 injury, likely from more fibrotic penis (I speculate); this continued for years however in 2019 was diagnosed with retinal tear after suddenly seeing floaters (not injury induced) and then obtained 4 medical surgeries over several months following detachment and redachment of retina (stable now for over 3 years but with some irreversible loss of vision - medical literature including animal studies indicate at high dose pde inhibitors can be toxic to retina therefore suspect cialis is cause/contibutor to retinal detachment and havent used cialis since. Implant is only option given inability to tolerate pde inhibitors and inadequacy of injections. Selected EID based on research, flying from out of state, not covered by insurance as insurance covers only intra-state non-emergency medical procedures (though will try following cash payment to extract some money from them (yes, could be a futile task).

Literally on plane now to NY to see EID as I write. Not accompanied by anyone, have hired a medical chaperone to accompany after surgery to hotel. Will fly back on 10/4, though could extend stay if needed. Have pre-op sizing app tomorrow. Will document relevant facts as a journal. So far I met EID via video once about 1 year ago. He was as he appears in multiple videos online: calm, personable, sincere, etc. Staff (Ruby) has been helpful and efficient. She tried to get insurance to pay (California Blue Cross, Silver ppo) but no go.

Comments, questions, suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Got mine done with Dr Eid from out of state in 2021. Get some groceries before the procedure, plan on not being able to leave your hotel room for a couple days. He is a great surgeon and great personality/bedside manner. You are in good hands brother
Early 30s with ED for years from penis enlargement stretching and jelqing. Implant by Dr Eid on 24 June 2021 with a Titan 24cm with +1cm RTE on one side and -1cm cut off on the other side

Surgery is over. In lyft on my way back to hotel. Pain at hospital post-surgery mostly related to a powerful sensation that I have to urinate causing stomach pain. Eventually the catheter worked and I filled up 2 bags. I wonder why Eid keeps the catheter in for 3 days. I am anticipating scrotal pain and will be taking prescrip meds as soon as I get back hotel. Im in the hotel now.

Dr. Eid will be doing my implant. I am interested to follow your detailing of the process.
What hospital was the surgery performed at?
Age 70
Pills didn't work well. Trimix worked good for 3 years, then only fair for following 3 years but need a cock ring in conjunction.
Implant 12/6/2023 Dr. Eid
Coloplast Titan 20 cm with right side trimmed to 19 cm. No RTE. Classic pump.

Surgery was done at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. After taking a percocet and dose of antibiotics and relaxing I have a dull feeling that resembles having to poop and or pee but cant do either. Now 2.5 days of bedrest after which I will see Dr Eid on Monday for followup where he will remove catheter and pump my implant.
Btw, I was told to ice although that wasnt heavily emphasized. Perhaps because the large covering which itself is covered by a large protective jockstrap makes direct icing of the operated region inaccessible. I am still placing ice over the jockstrap and icing the surrounding region.

I am two hours away from Dr. Eid and, literally, have a bus that runs from around the corner of his office to my home.
Do you feel that you could have done a short walk to the bus stop and a two hour ride home? It is a fairly comfortable bus.

Yes, I couldve done that. Im in excellent shape, lift weights daily and have a very high pain threshold for context. The pain I had at hospital was wholly related to urinary retention, ie I had a (over) full bladder but the catheter wasnt initially releasing extracting urine I guess. I didnt drink any fluids after 10pm (they advised nothing after midnight) but I did drink a lot before 10 at night. Id suggest not drinking much the day before to avoid this (they will give you an iv hydration drip pre-surgery so hydration isnt needed).

One issue is you must have someone escort you out once done with the surgery and they are contacted by the hospital. Since I am from CA I used the “medical chaperone” company recommended by Dr Eid’s office which was extremely good and costs just $92. They timely checked in with hospital, told me the name and cell of the person who’d pick me up, she signed me out, accompanied me in the Lyft, and walked me up to my hotel room. If you have a friend or significant other with thats good but the medical chaperone was quite affordable, professional and helpful.
Right now, I am pain free after taking a percocet. Some dull heavy feeling but nothing bad. I think the urine/catheter issue has settled down.

Thank you so much for the feedback. It is very helpful. I hope you will continue to post your progress.
Were you required to get cardiac clearance followed by clearance from the anesthesiologist before they put you on the schedule? I am in that process now.

I was only required to get a medical clearance from any doctor that would fill out a form and do an ekg. That clears you for surgery which can then be scheduled. I did have my heart rate and blood pressure measured repeatedly before during and after surgery. I guess if one had a very high pulse or blood pressure the anestheiologist might be concerned or even cancel surgery in an extreme case but this is true with any surgery. The anesthethiologist, who was very nice and does many surgeries with Dr Eid, did not perform any tests today (the day of surgery). FYI the anesthesia is spinal, meaning in blocks all pain from waist down and there is some “twilight sedation”. I felt nothing and remembered nothing. When i came to, they were essentially done. With twilight sedation, as opposed to general anesthesia, there is no grogginess or brain fog post surgery (that I could detect). Happy to answer any other questions on this, my (bionic) surgery
