Coloplast Titan OTR

Postby SuthrnGentleman » Tue Nov 27, 2012 3:38 pm

I have been reading quite a few of these posts, and every one talks about having the AMS 700 LGX Implant. Is there anyone here that has had the Coloplast Titan OTR IPP?
I have been reading that the Coloplast Titan is used for men with length greater than 7 inches. In my reading it states that the diameter for each cylinder is for 21+cm.
However, I can't find the initial length specified in any material that I have found published. Am I missing something here or is length something that is taken into account at the time of surgery.
I too hear the stories about losing inches after the surgery and how long it may take to get back to full erection length. This is something that has been weighing heavy on my mind.
I currently have closed and ruptured arteries causing a deficiency of blood flow to my penis due to ex-spousal abuse during my first marriage. At first the pills worked but my body has since built up an immunity to their properties.
My current erection state when it can be achieved is in the range of 9.50 to 10.25 inches. I am worried that this length may not be available with the implants that are available.
My urologist tells me that the Coloplast Titan is the only product that will work with my build. Any input would be appreciated.

If you use the search or "advanced search" functions on the implant forum you will find quite a few experiences with the Titan OTR. However, I've never read about anyone in the forums here, or in the Yahoo Penile Implant group, that was anywhere near your length. So, I doubt you will find anyone with experience at that length. And, even if you find one, there is the question of whether that single experience would be representative. According to sites like mraverage.com you must be less than 1 in 1000 of even healthy men, not to mention unhealthy ones. Even the highest volume implant surgeons have only done in the low to mid thousands of implants, so I'd guess that even the very high volume surgeons have very limited experience with anyone your size.

You are correct that implant sizing is done during surgery. The cavernosa are cut open, dilated, stretched and measured. Part of the cavernosa are inside your body, and part are in the visible portion of your penis. Using myself as an example, I have a 22 cm Titan OTR (roughly 8.7 inches) which produces a visible erection of about 6 1/2 inches pressed hard to the pubic bone. The size of the implant will need to be quite a bit larger than the size of your visible erection. Titans come in standard lengths of 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22cm. Rear tip extenders (RTE's) are used to fine tune the in between sizes by making the standard size somewhat larger. Titans also come in special order sizes of, I believe, 24, 26 and 28cm. I would assume at your size you'd be looking at the largest special order size, and maybe with RTE's added on to give greater length. But, I'm not a medical professional and that's an uneducated guess.

I understand that the FDA requires manufacturers of every implant (of any kind, not just penile implants) to make a record of every device implanted, including model, size, patient name, surgeon name, facility where implanted, etc. I presume your surgeon deals with a Coloplast rep, and that Coloplast could run a database search and find instances of implants of its largest size. Possibly they could impart some wisdom from that about what you might expect. Also, I would doubt they would release patient names because of privacy concerns, but I would think they could give your surgeon the names of other surgeons with experience at that largest size, and that by conferring with some of those, he could perhaps give you the best input as to what you might expect. Or, you could perhaps contact some of those surgeons yourself.

Also, regarding girth. There are two cylinders implanted. One in each of your cavernosa. At least in the standard sizes, the maximum possible girth expansion of the Titans is 21-22mm (NOT cm) diameter. For the vast majority of people, the implant does not expand to its full potential width, since their body (primarily tunica, but perhaps other tissues as well) limits the expansion. Of course, you're not exactly normal. Also, the total diameter (or total circumference... your erect penis is probably not exactly round, and even less likely to be so after an implant), includes not only the inflated implant, but the tissues of: cavernosa, tunica albuginea, urethra, spongeosum, skin, and probably other things I don't know enough to name. So simply doubling the 21mm to 42mm isn't going to give you the maximum potential diameter/girth of your erection.

Welcome to FT.
I was implanted with the Coloplast Titan in December 2007 after developing ED Post-Prostatectomy in 2004.
The Implant completey corrected my ED and restored my sex life and the emotional bond with my wife.
Re your question about diving at depth Post-Implant, you might want to call Coloplast and run it by someone in their
Tech-Support Group. Just a thought. (This is from your Post in Introductions.)
Also, because it is made of sturdier material (Bioflex), the Coloplast Titan is strongly recommended by most UROs for men a penis of 7 inches or more (erect) and for men with Peyronnies Disease (Curvature of the Penis).

Best of luck,

Bob

A quick idea of how big you could get is to take twice the diameter of one cylinder and multiply that by 3.14 and then divide the results by 25.4. This will give you a girth approximation in inches. Of course all that was said previously about shape and tissue still hold. 42 * 3.14 /25.4 = 5.19 inches without any increase for tissue. So it would not be unexpected to have a girth of greater than 6 inches when everything is included.

Don't have a Coloplast here, recovering to use an AMS. Math is the same for both though just different numbers. Fully deflated (12mm) for me gives a girth of about 4.5 inches. Expect max of about six on an AMS.

Here is an article about Titan XL cylinders. Not quite on point to all the issues raised here, but possibly of interest:

Thank you for the link rlm1818. This is the information that I have been searching for. In this article it denotes maximum lengths and how it is determined.

Southern - given your huge size now you should be well pleased to lose a couple of inches from the implant. Maybe pass them out to the rest of us.. I've always been quite active in my sex life and 99% of the women I know couldn't run fast enough away from a 9" penis.

Thanks for all of the input here on the site. I got my implant on January 23 and was surprised that I did lose 1.25 inches in length but gained 1 inch in diameter. The total implant size I was told is 31 cm. I have had a lot of pain for the past month but I have been told that most of that is because they had to remove 2 cysts. One from a testicle and one from my prostate. Both thankfully were benign and I did not require a male sling. I was surprised at the amount of weight of the implant that I have had to get used to carrying around. My wife is excited that I have actually lost inches in length. She tells me that she won't have to worry about me bottoming out anymore. I have also found that bottoming out now can be a painful experience for both of us. Won't be doing that again.

Southern Gentleman,
Best wishes for a speedy and more comfortable recovery. You've endured the worst of it and the future should be much brighter for you and your wife
