Hi Drayan123

I am in the industry and have an implant. Immediate post op you have to take it easy, but in my experience in general lifting things did not change. I do have a bit of a momentary problem when snaking through scaffold. The bending kinda gets my reservoir (binding sensation) which is above my belt line on the left. Again, just takes practice and slow down what used to be a fast move. Tool belt took a bit of adjustment, ladders no real difference. And as everyone mentions your jeans or Carhartt's will have a new bulge. As the implant breaks in I have found I can just bend it downwards and while longer just doesn't seem to be in the way. In general, I have found only minor adjustments in how you do things, but it is not going to affect your job performance.

Then again, if you're in private residential renovations...who knows what kind of trouble that new toy could get you in lol. Think cheesy 70"s porn music in the background

Question, anybody out there know exactly how much can I lift? And how soon? I know this is a question for my doc, just looking for feedback. I am supposed to do a soil nailing and cmu wall soon. A 12 inch wide block or 13 foot long bar is pretty heavy, bagged mud is 50-60 lbs minimum. Just looking ahead, my very first consult is in November but he is a high volume guy, highly recommended Doctor Loh-Boyle out of USC. I will probably go with him unless I see or hear of some red flags. (I am a red pill guy). I plan to be in the field in December a lot. I hate to have to girl it in front of my guys, "oh, I cant lift that because..." since I expect them to hump it. I know I need to pace myself, not come back too early. Heck, I came back too soon on an injury and wrecked what they sewed back up inside my hand permanently last job accident so I get it. If I use my legs....?

My doctor limited me to lifting no more than 5 pounds the first two weeks.

After my first follow-up appointment, two weeks after the surgery, when he confirmed that my recovery was going well, he told me to slowly build back up to normal activity.

I don't do construction full time, but I worked part time installing replacement windows and doors less than a year after my surgery. And I am a DIYer remodeling my house. So, I've done a fair amount of construction work since my surgery.

The only way my implant affects my movement is that it's a little awkward to squat down. I have to adjust some because the implant just kind of gets in the way. It's minor to me and easy to deal with.
