Implant option looking less attractive by the day

Postby galactic » Sat Feb 05, 2022 6:43 am

Reading this board although helpful just makes me feel so sad and so ‘out of - good - options’, as it were.

Tubing issues here, multiple replacements in a short span of time there, lost inches, the works.

I really thought these devices were meant to be long-lasting, undetectable (unless you feel the pump) and allow one to retain their original size (depending on glans engorgement or not).

Is there any hope!

If you look it up studies show 10-15 yrs for most implants, even if it’s less I can live with that!I am 15 months out and love mine!I went from not being able to keep it up to this 24/7 anytime I choose and as long as it’s needed and no problems!

I guess my view is your question turned in the other direction, I.e. is there any hope for me if I don’t get an implant? Even with it’s potential complications and disadvantages, not getting it done means the end of my sex life and a resulting dysfunctional marriage. And so in a couple weeks here I go with a great surgeon to maximize my potential for a successful outcome. Good luck to you in your decision.

it all comes down to risk vs gain.

1)If you can not get an erection adequate for sex even with pills or injections then you have very little to lose.
2)If you can not get a 'natural ' erection adequate for sex but you can with pills or injections then depending on your age you might want to wait it out. However, the effects of both tend to wane after a period of time.
3)If you can get hard, with or without pills, but have a significant bend due to Peyronies which makes intercourse difficult/impossible then this is the biggest dilemma....

I am a number 3. I can get hard but have a 75 degree dorsal curve which makes intercourse very difficult and effectively brought an end to my last relationship. I am booked in for Feb 14th for my surgery. Of course i am worried that if it doesn't go to plan, whether that be due to infection, malfunction or surgeon error i could be left with no form of erection for up to 6 months where as a man who is impotent to start with doesn't lose anything in the same situation.

However, ultimately i am not currently able to have a normal sexual relationship, so i feel as though i have little choice. If it needs to be replaced every 5 years then so be it. Hopefully those five years i will enjoy great sex and will change me, both in and out of the bedroom.

I would also like to add, for most men, if they have little to no issues with their implant they tend to have no reason to visit these forums. Those that do tend to want advice and that is a very small percentage of implantees. So although you might read lots of posts from guys with issues there is thousands who don't visit here and are extremely happy with their IPP
Implanted by Mike Fraser in feb 2022 due to a 80 degree dorsal curvature. 18cm Titan - way undersized. 8’ pre Peyronies, 6’ pre implant - currently 6’.

What you are reading here mostly are stories from a percentage of the small percentage of people that have issues with the implant.

The hope is finding a good urologist who deals with men's sexual needs. Again this forum is full of guys who had issues because the ones who worked out good are most likely enjoying it and not looking back. Yes you can have problems with any surgery, but if you follow your surgeons' instructions things will work out just fine. I was one of the guys who used pills until they failed, then injections until they failed. Getting the implant was my last hope of having sex again. After my surgery I was one of those guys who said "What the hell did I let them do to me?"
Then after healing all I could think of is "Am I gonna have fun now!"
2+ years and no issues other than my long healing time.

Gotta believe that the people that post here are going to be the unlucky few that have issues, seeking guidance, support and answers.
37, mild to moderate ED since age 21, 3 Dopplers - 1 result VL & 3 later results 'no physical problem', dependent on cialis (efficacy now waning), overcame Lymophoma at age 26, ED causing immense/profound psychological distress. Considering implant.

Yeah, I know. What’s your point? I didn’t mean it in a derogatory way.
