18 Years Old Suffering from ED as a result of Corporeal fibrosis... is an Implant the way to go?

Infection, mechanical failure of the device, potential size loss/poor placement, and nerve damage are all good reasons to delay this surgery - to say nothing of financial cost.

My own thinking for delaying is that I want to reduce the total number of times in my life that I need to get my dick surgically operated on (ie, original implant and future revisions). So if I can reduce that number even by 1, I want to do that.

Hallfighter, I think you give some wise points to consider. I can only imagine what my perspective would be if I was 50 years younger but I can't really be sure. I do think some of the reasons you point out for delay are greatly minimized by your wise advice to pick a top-notch surgeon. Trying to imagine a potential of maybe 10 revisions is not good but I cannot help but think in 20 or 30 years surely advances will have been made. If nothing else, implants that last longer.

Also what is your view of reducing the number of times you need a replacement vs minimizing the number of times you have to avoid a girl you might be attracted to, maybe even the girl you could start a life and a family with? I'm interested in your perspective. I am glad to see you are functional now so that will likely factor in.

Comparing # of surgeries vs # of times you have to avoid a woman is a really convincing way to put it. I've done 0 of the former and plenty of the latter. I'm only partially functional, and if I could snap my fingers and magically have an implant I would trade it over my current situation; however, the logistical and financial barriers of actually getting one are too high for me right now. I also have a supportive and committed gf. That plus the fact that I have partial functionality are huge factors (there are others that I won't go into) for why delaying is the right option at least for me.

I do think that most (of course not all) doctors would recommend against implantation at 18, and while FT members are generally very well informed, at some point we should defer to the medical experts.

Like I said in my original reply, part of me just wants to tell him and others like him to dive off the deep end and go for it since it's been proven to produce great results in young men. UItimately, one could make a strong case either way for the original poster and it's up to him.

I really don't want to come off as arrogant but, ask any member here, after the implant surgery is over, the implanted Frank Talk members ARE the experts. No doctor can tell you even a quarter of what our members can. I am sure that you have your reason and that should be good enough for anyone. Have a great day. :)

I don't apologize for asking a member about his perspective on issues, both to have him examine his own perspective and put it in words, and to examine it to see if I can find value or any insight, or to reject it if I do not. To dismiss the validity of one's opinions because he is here agonizing over when to get an implant rather than already having one is almost obscene.

I see a little too much conclusion jumping without studies, without evidence, without considering facts on the forum. Especially if facts don't fit someone's bias. As humans, we all have a tendency toward that and the biggest protection we have is to promote lively discussion and debate that does not degenerate into cursing and name calling by those that feel threatened when their ideas are challenged. I will not just write off someone's opinion because them or their opinion does not fit my preconceived ideas.

I reiterate that I am very interested in when a very young man on this forum considers something as intimate as an implant. I am interested in his deepest thoughts when he weighs the number of replacements he will need in a lifetime against missed opportunities, interactions, and intimacy with women while he waits. What more basic searching question could we possibly discuss on an implant board?

I still hope he shares that valuable opinion.
