If I’m gonna be brutally honest, it’s never safe to smoke. Tobacco in any form entails some risk.
However, as someone who has been chewing tobacco & dipping snuff for 55 years, I think if you’re past 6 months that your smokes aren’t going to interfere with you healing up from surgery.

I am a cigar smoker. I stopped before and for a while after my first implant surgery. For my repair I did not stop. I did not see any difference in the healing.
Injections failed. Implanted 3-21-18 AMS 700 LGX 21 + 1 RTE 100 cc reservoir 6.5" L 5" G Dr. Kramer.

I was a former smoker, but my long initial healing had me back on the cigs for a few weeks.
Now, I'm popping nicorette tablets like they are Altoids. Except they interfere with sleep, so planning on quitting that.
Nicorette is about as harmful as a cup of coffee, I read on the internet.

If anyone out there is trying to quit and having problems you have probably heard about this, and if you haven't consider it - Chantix is a hell of a drug. Didn't think anything would get me to stop. Took me a few months with it and I was good with little to no desire to ever again. I've talked to a few people who tried it who didn't like the crazy dreams it can cause. Wasn't an issue for me.
40. AMS 700 LGX, 21+3. Nov. 2, 2021. Idiot who abused alcohol for brain injury, abused viagra for implant.

Re: Six month after smoking;
I have been an episodic smoker through most of my adult life alternating between long stretches of excellent lifestyle choices (diet & gym) versus periods of utter wretched self abuse. Chain smoking 2 packs a day for months. I speculate that this heavy smoking was a causal factor in my eventual veinous leakage and ED.
I started vaping about a year and a half ago. Not bad. I could breathe pretty easily say and stayed active in the gym. But i hit the vape hard throughout each day. I just sensed that, though a better choice than smoking cigarettes, it still was a distant second to just breathing simple air. Anyway, i vaped right through my recovery, including day of surgery.
I’ve been retired in Thailand now for 2+ months. Just over a month ago i finished my last vape cartridges from the US and decided to quit again. Yeah, i was addicted but managed to push through the cravings and now im feeling much better and not thinking about it too much. A welcome change. In the gym daily, and i think my overall performance in the bedroom has greatly improved, since the cessation of vaping has resulted in better breathing overall.
