I'm going to be spending the next year or two travelling and working in different countries and I'm looking at option for travel insurance. No policy covers 'pre-existing conditions' which I assume is what an implant is considered. I assume this means if something goes wrong I'd have to pay out of pocket to fly back to my home country and get the surgery if the implant breaks or malfunctions during my trip?
Anyone know about this?
Also any suggestions on how to bring this up with an insurance company? I imagine telling someone in a Phillipines Call Center I have a penile implant would leave them confused and likely to provide me with inaccurate information.
Travel Insurance when implanted
Re: Travel Insurance when implanted
Hi there, try RACV at least you get to speak to a consultant face to face. There maybe other insurance companies that have offices. Good luck anyway. Charlie

I suppose you could just wait until you got back to have a revision. But honestly unless you are having problems or have an accident you shouldn't need to worry about that you just got your implant.

I don’t think a functioning implant would be considered a pre existing condition if no issues with it when you bought the insurance. ED was the condition and you fixed it with the implant. If it was in need of replacement when you signed up then that issue would be considered a pre existing condition. That said unless you had an infection of the implant that required surgery for medical reasons which I think should be covered, I doubt they would cover replacing a implant simply because it doesn’t work. The insurance company would be your best resource for what they will and won’t cover and their definition of pre existing conditions. And ask to get it in writing. Safe travels
