Implanted at 28 years old. 5 years later | Dr Rossello

Postby Membrillo » Wed Aug 26, 2020 8:05 pm

Hi all.

I'm a 33 years old guy who had suffered from E.D since my teen years due to a rupture in the tunica albuginea.
I was implanted with a penile prosthesis 5 years ago, after try most available methods to treat erectile dysfunction.

Some of those methods were tadalafil and viagra, alprostadil injections, testosterone replacement, growth hormone treatment, vacuum therapy , shock wave therapy, fat steem cells therapy, penile physiotherapy...

Nothing worked for me. So i decided to have an implant.

My surgery was a success with Dr. Mariano Rossello Barbará and his team Dr. Mariano Rossello Gaya and Dr. Manuel Fernandez Arjona. It was done in Madrid , Spain. They implanted a 20cm TITAN OTR.

I choosed him and his team based on their experience, as i know that Dr Mariano Rossello Barbara is one of the most experienced doctors with penile implants in Europe and him and his son Dr. Mariano Rossello Gaya are the doctors who have implanted more penile prosthesis in Spain.

I`m very happy with the outcome as the prosthesis works perfectly and i haven`t got any kind of pain or complication.

At first , after the surgery i was a bit scared because there was some lost of length and girth. But i recovered my original size after pumping the prosthesis for about 6 months.

I did a blog to share my experience but It is in Spanish. https://fugavenosa.wordpress.com.

Feel free to ask me everything you want to know.

Cheers.

Thanks for coming back to the forum despite not having any issues, it helps to see the positive stories as well as those that show the potential difficulties of the process. It’s great to see that the implant has improved your quality of life. I think two questions particularly relevant for young guys are:

- Have you found any restrictions at all physically ? I have seen the odd person note that there are certain excersices they no longer do at the gym

- Secondly, are you currently in a relationship ? How has the implant impacted your sex life in general ?

Thanks, both questions have of course been asked and answered before but any extra views are always appreciated.
Mid 20’s. Titan 22 cm + 1.5cm RTE. All good so far.

Just read through it. Thanks for updating us and glad you are doing well and the stress of ED is gone.

What was your original injury? How did it occur?
How many women have you told about it? How did they react?
When/how do you decide to tell women?

Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your experience! I am delighted to hear a success story and that you have a functioning implant for 5+ years. Most people come here to share their failure stories and we rarely get success stories from people who have implants for 5+ years.

To the user above, please read the full post before replying back to respect OP's time. He mentioned in his post that he has Titan, not AMS.
A young guy in his early 30s from South Asia. Implanted Titan 22cm by Dr. Tariq Hakky in Atlanta (Dec 2020). Amazing doctor! No pain during recovery. My size is 5.75” x 4.6” which is better than pre-OP size of 5.6” x 4.5”. Hoping to gain more in future.

That's awesome you have 5 years and still going strong. That is the type of story others need to hear.

I can do the same exercises that i did before the surgery in the gym but there are two things that i have noticed :

The first one is when i do abs, and specially if i do them in a machine, sometimes the movement makes presure in the prosthesis reservoir that is located near the stomach. That inflates the prosthesis a little bit and it's a bit uncomfortable at people could think that you are having an erection

The second is when i ride a bicicle. I need to acomodate the pump first in the seat or it could hurt.

- Secondly, are you currently in a relationship ? How has the implant impacted your sex life in general ?

I'm not in a relationship right now.
It makes things easier as before because i wasn't confident that i could maintain the erection. Specially if i had to use a condom, because most times the erection went down when i was trying to put it on. That was because when i was not stimulating the penis the erection came off rapidly.

The negative point is that now sex could not be as spontaneous as before as i need to inflate the prosthesis to be able to penetrate and if your partner doesn't know about your surgery you are not going to do it in front of her. ( This is not a problem if your partner know about your prosthesis )

Thanks, both questions have of course been asked and answered before but any extra views are always appreciated.

Thanks for your reply - one final q - I also got a Titan installed a few days ago. Currently my flaccid is at 3.30 pm - almost perpendicular to my body. How soon after your operation could you get out and about doing normal things again?

I don't think that is important to share how it happened. As i said it was a rupture of the tunica albuginea.

How many women have you told about it? How did they react?

i have told about it to two women. Both reacted well.

When/how do you decide to tell women?

I only tell them if i think that i'm going to have a serious relationship. If i feel that it is only going to be short term i don't say anything. I just tell them not to touch the testicles, that's because if they touch them they are going to notice the pump.

The best way to tell about it is to have sex and then after it or a day later tell them that you have a prosthesis. By that way she is not going to think that you have anything strange there.

Also i don't make a drama when telling it , its better to make a joke like i can be erect all day ;) .

Just wear one of the t-shirts suggested in this thread

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12167&p=105570

Seriously, when two people are getting close to having sex, there are certain things that should be discussed beforehand. Consent, health history, who is responsible for contraception, etc. Adding one more item to the list should not be troublesome.

It's very possible that your prosthesis is now partially inflated and because of that it points more perpendicular to the body.
Even thought a penile prosthesis doesn't fall as a normal penis when flacid. It points more perpendicular because the material inside is harder so don't expect it to hang like it was used to do.
Expect it to hang like 4.30pm or so.

After the surgery things improve very rapidly. After the first week you are going to be much better. But for what i remember there was some discomfort the first month.
