Getting ready to do injections again using Autoject 2

Postby truckeic » Mon Jan 11, 2021 11:15 am

I took a hiatus in injecting due to health reasons. The last couple times I tried , been over 6 months ago, using my Autoject 2 the needle went in but the trimix did not inject. The plunger did not go down. Noth sure if I went too deep or not deep enough. Any suggestions using the Autoject since I can't inject normally.

Thanks

Make sure you have the right size needle. If it is too small diameter, there may not be enough pressure to expel the medication. I know i once got the wrong needle size and I had this issue.

Auto injector has a depth adjustment which may be set too deep or shallow. I use a 1/2 inch needle set to 3/8 inches and if it does not inject , I pull it back a bit. You could also have a stuck plunger if it has sat for a while. I usually pull the plunger back and push forward until I get a drip from the needle.

I can't tell you for sure, i gave my extras and injector to a guy to help him out. But I know that when i bought Insulin syringes they didn't work, I had to buy allergy syringes.
If I look on Amazon it looks like insulin syringes are 30 or 31 gauge, and allergy syringes are 27 or 28 gauge. Remember with gauge the bigger the number the smaller the diameter.

U-100 insulin syringes are easily obtainable in a fairly wide variety of gauges, lengths and capacities. For example: https://www.totaldiabetessupply.com/collections/insulin-syringes
