What about supplements like DHEA, L-Arginine, Ginseng, Yohimbe, Gingko, Saw palmetto extract and Panax ginseng. Do those work or are they just scams to trick guys into spending money on useless products?
27. Montreal, Canada. Suffering from ED for a few years. Went to see a urologist. He told me they stopped trying to treat ED and my only hope is Viagra/Cialis. Looking for a cure (if one exists) instead of just a quick fix (viagra/cialis).

Perhaps, but I'd like to try at least a few different things before going the surgery route. There are so many different supposed cures (supplements, hypnosis, acupuncture, sex therapy, kegel exercises, etc.) It would just take a lot of time (and money) to try all of them out myself, so I'm trying to determine which ones have worked for others in the past and which ones are scams.

Should I just do like the doctor said and give up on trying to find a cure or is there still hope? Thanks.

Hello,
Unfortunately, I believe there are doctors who would rather just prescribe drugs than look for solutions. In the states the drug companies have become far too powerful and seem to have power over some doctors. That may not be the case with your doctor, but the comment about not even attempting to treat ED sounds wrong to me. If I were you I would get another opinion.

In many of us the physical problem ended up being a Venous Leak. For the most part that issue is not treated, but other problems are sometimes treatable. Also, if you are getting headaches from Viagra, there are other drugs your doctor should allow you to try, as well as vacuum pumping, injections, etc.

Best wishes to you.
Greg
I am 64 and had ED from a VL. Implanted by Dr. Ronald Anglade in Atlanta on 9/18/17. I have an AMS700LGX 21 cm via a Penoscrotal incision. Very happy with results. 6" soft and 6 3/4” x 5 5/8” hard.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for weighing in. The doctor did mention the venous leak, but he said the odds of that being the cause are about 1%. They took blood samples and will run tests, but he told me that if that's not the issue, I'm basically out of options. He referred me to a few specialized clinics that could run tests, but they're not covered by health care and even if I can identify the problem, there are no solutions (according to him.) I should probably get a second opinion like you said. I have an appointment at another hospital in a few days for a separate matter. Perhaps I'll make an appointment with a urologist there to see if he can tell me something different.

There seems to be a large contingent of guys of all ages here at FT with Venous Leaks so that 1% number sounds very low to me. I have no medical statistics to back me up though. It would seem like any urologist would prescribe a Penile Doppler test to see if it can locate a problem or rule things out. For this doctor to just dismiss that step concerns me. Maybe do an online search to see if you can find a urologist in your area who actually does implants. Any reputable implant doctor will still have you try other solutions before moving forward.

I would be very interested in knowing if it worked. In 15 years on the road as a paramedic, I saw many, many patients that tried herbal remedies only to find out that the only thing they did was cost them money.
