Your location

Postby David_R » Sun Dec 27, 2015 10:42 pm

I am always bothered when it seems like the only two prosthetic urologists (meaning those who put in implants) that we can trust are Dr. Kramer in Baltimore and Dr. Eid in New York. I know that there are competent doctors with lots of experience, happy patients (and their partners), and many done each year -- closer to you, no matter where you live. I just feel sorry for those who go to all the expense of travel and hotel stays etc. to go to either Baltimore or New York for one of those famous doctors. (I had a doctor who was neither of these men who did an excellent job and who has both a great reputation and satisfied patients and partners, I hear, and who does many each year. And he has area colleagues who are in that same category.)

Who was your physician so that others can check him/her out? Dr Kramer based on my experience is great re results and infection rate and likely has a great number of us spreading the word due to the sheer number he does as well as the results. But as you say others should share their physician's names, infection rates and success story as many times as it takes to get the word out. Unless we hear who they are and where they are some may skip surgery thinking they have to travel. Although that said I would travel again to see Dr. Kramer in a heartbeat. Sounds like you had the same experience with your doc. My local doc who does them tried to talk me out of a transplant even with him despite my lack of success with all else and described the last infection he had to deal with in one of his patients. Close but not who I wanted to do it so if I had to leave my area no big deal to travel to Baltimore. Thanks for getting the word out about choices.

Bill, my urologist is Marc Siegelbaum of Chesapeake Urology. He and several other uros in the group do implants. I would refer anyone to Dr. Siegelbaum without hesitation.
