Finally got the implant

Postby 1sfman » Sun Jan 25, 2026 11:17 pm

Well, my original surgery was on Monday, Oct 6th, to implant AMS 700 LGX. Unfortunately, I ended up being one of the 3% with a nick in the urethra. Left side was dilated without a problem, but right side, at the distal end (near the glans), the urethra was nicked. Surgeon had to abort the procedure at that point. He said I likely had a weakness in the urethra and the pressure from the dilation caused the tear. On the dilated left side, he inserted a semi-malleable rod to prevent disuse atrophy. I woke up with a catheter which I had to have in place for 30 days. Suffered a couple of big bleeds that afternoon, but those stopped later in the evening.

Fast forward to Nov. 5th and I was back in the hospital for catheter removal and a scope to determine if the urethra had healed. The surgeon also performed a Retrograde Urethrogram (RUG) where a contrast dye is inserted and x-rays performed to insure there is no leakage. All was good, but he said that I still needed to wait at least 3 months from the initial urethra tear. As an aside, I can tell you that having a catheter for 30 days in a sore dick with an implanted semi-mailable rod is miserable to say the very least.

Fast forward to Jan 21, and a new attempt. All went well, I'm home and I'm hopeful. I'm writing this with an ice pack on my scrotum and some discomfort, but not currently taking any pain meds. Surgeon said I should ice at least 3 times a day and that I could ice as much as I wanted, and I will.

Jan 25th update. I didn't get the LGX as planned. After the surgeon removed the semi-malleable rod from the original aborted attempt, it was observed that I had some fibrosis or scarring. He made the decision to use CX implants instead LGX. After researching the use of either the CX or LGX when there is some other damage, I agree the CX was the best option. So I have a pair of 21cm CX implants. Still have a lot of bruising, but swelling has diminished a bit. I continue to ice most of the day. Not needing any pain meds as I would describe what I'm feeling as a mild discomfort at the most. Next Dr. visit is Feb 4th, two weeks out from surgery. So far, so good.

Welcome to the brotherhood and congrats on your final implant surgery.
Sorry you had this rare complication, but that's sometimes a risk in surgical procedures of any type that complications occur. Shit happens.
Anyway, the complication was well treated, no other issue, like infection happened, even it was hard to have a katheter for 30 days, but that prevented the urethra for the healing time.
So now you're there, take it easy, relax and rest well.
All the best
