Can my new insurance cover surgery with Dr Eid?

Postby macoza » Sat Nov 01, 2025 1:38 pm

So I live in NYC and have Healthfirst insurance which likely can cover surgery with a doc that does 50 - 60 implants a year.

Now, I started working last week and the company offers Oxford insurance (NY S LBTYNG4000/80EPO HSA). I've got to agree to accept the insurance before I can use it, obviously.

It looks like Dr Eid accepts Oxford.. but I have to make sure he accepts this specific plan before I decide to go with him instead of the other doctor.

I have a few questions:

1. Do any of you know if Dr Eid accepts this specific Oxford plan (NY S LBTYNG4000/80EPO HSA)?

2. Since I started working last week, can I apply Oxford insurance to Dr Eid for the surgery as soon as next month? How long after accepting the insurance do I have to wait before getting the surgery?

3. I was told that I will have to drop Healthfirst if I accept Oxford. If Oxford can't cover the surgery that means I'll have to rely on Healthfirst to cover it. That means I'll have to give up my job. Would this be worth doing?

4. Dr Eid is 72 years old. Could his age affect his ability to perform surgery?

...

#4 Many of us have been implanted by Eid this year. So, if you are doing this in near future I would say you are in good hands, but if just making plans for the future I would look at others.

So I need to have surgery as soon as possible. And be ready for action by March or April 2026. So I assume this is possible by your answer.

Why ask here? Call Eid’s office and ask them. That’s the only way to know for certain.

Why the rush to have surgery RFN?

Eid’s office staff have been with him for years and years. They know the insurance game backwards and forwards. That is a benefit to using Eid that a lot of other docs don’t have.

They will be able to tell you if it is covered or not. They are amazing. Just call his office.
