How Long Will An Implant Last

Postby Irish Lad 34 » Sat Oct 25, 2025 5:17 pm

How long does a Penoscrotal Titan last on average and how long does an Infrapubic Titan last on average?

Tell me based on your own experience and what you know.

I'm getting an implant next month. It will either be an infrapubic Titan or a penoscrtoal Titan.

Irish Lad 34,
My 22cm Titan is nearly 5 years old and I expect it to last much longer. My wife and I don't do rough sex (darn it) so I think that and many other considerations make a difference in longevity. Some on this forum talk about how many times the implant is inflated as also being a consideration in longevity.

I have never heard of penoscrotal or infrapubic being a factor. This is not unlike I have never heard of the surgeon being either right or left handed adding to or subtracting from longevity.

My implant was done penscrotally w/o problems.

Good luck.

I'm also getting a Titan implanted on 25th Nov so I don't have any practical knowledge yet.

Here's what Chat GPT tells me.

Reply: Titan Device Longevity — What the Data Show

Most large series report that the Coloplast Titan is among the longest-lasting inflatable implants available.

Mechanical survival rates (i.e., still functioning normally) are roughly:

≈ 90–95 % at 5 years

≈ 80–85 % at 10 years

≈ 70–75 % at 15 years

Most mechanical failures are slow leaks or valve wear rather than a sudden rupture, and many devices are simply revised when men choose to upgrade after a decade or more of use.
Coloplast offers lifetime component replacement, though surgical costs are separate.

Factors that influence lifespan

Surgical technique (proper tubing routing, no sharp bends)

Avoidance of infection and early trauma

Gentle cycling and allowing full healing before sexual activity

In real-world follow-up, many Titans implanted in the mid-2000s are still fully functional 15–18 years later. When a revision is needed, it’s usually straightforward because the corporal space is already formed and length is maintained.

Bottom line:
A well-implanted Titan can realistically deliver 12–15 years of service, sometimes longer, with satisfaction rates remaining above 85–90 % even after revision.

PS. I'm now an auld Kiwi but was once an Irish lad like yourself :-)
Best of luck with your op.

I don’t know for sure. I pressed my surgeon on this and he said 8-10 years is typical. Obviously there are some that last shorter periods, and some longer. But it’s a bell curve and 8-10 seems tge fattest portion of the curve.
