Different methods/instructions

Postby browny30 » Thu Oct 09, 2025 10:05 am

Hi all,

I've noticed that some surgeons have different methods and instructions during post surgery, for example.

Some people are sent home fully inflated while some (like me) are sent home deflated.

Some are told to cycle almost right away while some won't be inflated until their first fortnightly visit where they'll be given instructions on cycling.

Obviously I'll be listening to my Dr, but can anyone point out what is the rationale and benefits of doing it certain ways?

Every surgeon has a slightly different perspective on what’s the worst case scenario or most likely complication based on their patients.

Cycling early helps guys regain their size quickly but probably increases the chances of erosion and even implant failure since all that capsule formation likely reinforces the tubing and connections etc.

I was sent home Thursday with a catheter in and drain bag. I am also fully deflated. I don’t go back until Tuesday morning… ugh Then they take everything off and out and I will leave partially inflated for 6 weeks. That is when I go back for a check up and start cycling.
