I had my follow-up with Dr. Clavell recently. I promised him a great review and can't add much to the consensus here, except:
(1) he's a humane man and a good listener, and I felt in good hands despite a really bad experience elsewhere--he knew I was terrified of another infection and reached out at the one month mark;
(2) the Houston HCA facility was much cleaner and nicer than the facilities where my first implant and salvage took place;
(3) the old policy of getting a cell phone number is now an optional concierge service because people were abusing it--I chose not to get it and was happy with the response by email, which was probably less immediate but as good as anyplace else; and
(4) the Hotel Zaza near the hospital is fine, mostly, but make sure the floor you're put on has an ice machine--the second floor didn't and I was at the mercy of housekeeping and room service.
EDIT: (5) I really appreciate he's a "one man band" doing the consults and surgery without a gaggle of residents and fellows.
I can't recommend him enough.

Clavell is just all the way around an excellent doctor. One of my friends had his implant operation from him earlier this year. When he went home he was having some major abdominal pain and Clavell showed up at his place to take a look. From my interactions with him I find him to be a very cautious doctor and has the patients long term health in mind.
After opening Vitality Urology he has been running the whole operation almost all by himself. Kudos to him for his dedication and passion.
One question, Has he staffed up more or is it still a pretty lean operation?
55 years. Using bimix 0.4 units. Works well but inconsistent and very inconvenient. Seriously considering an implant. 6.4 inches bone pressed length to tip, 5 inches girth base, 4.5 inches girth mid-shaft.

I'm not sure. It did seem pretty lean, but very well run. There was a ball dropped here or there on voicemails or messages but I'd call back and it was fine.
