I’m officially less than a month out from my surgery. I have my final pre-surgical consult with Dr. Hakky on Oct. 6th, with surgery following on the 21st.
I’m still committed to the surgery, but it’s starting to feel real and I’m not going to lie…I’m getting a bit nervous. You do all the research, understand all the benefits and risks, etc. But the *reality* of it is a little different and hits you harder!

Re: Getting Close / Getting Nervous
Yep. It IS a big step. One I was ready to take. But a big step none the less.
One of my greatest fears was that I would be trading a (poorly) functioning penis for an inanimate fake plastic, but functioning penis. In my case that wasn’t true. I still get the feeling of arousal and that stirring of blood when I get turned on. My penis is still responsive. But now the implant gives me the rigidity to perform in a way I couldn’t before.
Keep documenting the process. It’s helpful for the guys that will follow you to see all the ups and downs.
It takes guts and bravery to do this. But bravery isn’t a lack of fear. It is being afraid but moving forward anyway.
Hang in there. Exciting times are ahead.

Thanks for the supportive post! I’ve been very interested in your progress and fast recovery.
I’ve had problems with orgasms getting harder to achieve over the last year or two, my biggest fear is that I’ll have this great, rock hard dick and won’t be able to orgasm. It will probably just require some “retraining” to make it work, but that fear is real.

Yeah ElbowRoom, it does get a little a little scary when the doc tells you that you can't go back, but why would I go back to not being able to get a hard on with pills and having worry about what I ate so I didn't cancel out the effect of the pills, which at best was less than 30 precent of the time that I would be able to get a hard erection.
I had a prostrate procedure for an enlarged benign prostrate before I got my implant and I had total ED after the procedure. It sucked for me, but I was not as bad as a lot of FrankTalk brothers that had been dealing with this for years and years and years.
I got my implant 3 months after I had the prostrate procedure and I've never looked back. It is beyond words to be able to have an On Demand Bionic Dick that can get hard a rock anytime I want it to.
I had my implant done at the largest military hospital in the nation, Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas and the Major that did my operation did an outstanding job.
I know you are in better hands with Dr Hakky and he'll do a great job!
Just hang in there, we're here when you need help. Like Goodwood said in a reply to you, exciting times are ahead, just take it one day at a time.

Hey ElbowRoom, just dropped in to say it totally makes sense that you’re feeling those nerves. I’m feeling them each day and haven’t even had my consult yet with Hakky to get the ball rolling on setting a surgery date / insurance / etc!!
I love the comment from GoodWood:
That’s one I need to keep reminding myself of, and you should to. The fact that you’re standing up and saying “I’ve got one life and I want to live it to the fullest”, that this is an important part of your life that you want back. It’s AWESOME man that you’re pushing forward. So big props to you and every dude on here trying to better themselves.
Hakky is going to take great care with your case, and on top of that you’ve got a ton of guys here on FT rooting for you. Keep on pushing through!

ElbowRoom, yeah it can be tough to get your head around taking the big step. But your posts show that you've been thorough in thinking thru it, and weighing the benefits and risks. As they say, "you've got this". As far as your concern below, many of us including me, have had challenges with sensation post-op. For me it took 6+ months for my nerves/brain to adjust. Sometimes it just takes more time to heal.
Maybe you won't experience that at all ! A lot of guys don't. But if things seem different post-op don't panic, give yourself time to heal.

Elbowroom,
I feel you on the nerves… My date for bionichood is Oct 9 and I am getting the nerves the last few days.
I have been getting wood in my sleep the last couple weeks which hasn’t happened in two years!!! I think JR is feeling the nerves as well, LOL. I can’t help but think in the back of my mind, hey, maybe it will work again. Then the wood and that thought goes away just as fast…
I am definitely looking forward to this change but can’t help but be nervous!
Hang in there Elbow, we can do this!!!

Best of luck Boatdrinks! Do you think you’ll do a journal here on FT during your recovery?

Re: Getting Close / Getting Nervous
Elbowroom, I get it. I had a post just like yours. I am now coming up on six weeks postop. I have had ups and downs, more up than down. (Pun Intended).
. I have been cycling since week 3 and sex also. Gets better everyday. Everyone heals different, so try not to compare yourself. Just know in time you will be good to go. I am pretty well healed but still have trouble with my incision. It is still sensitive and doesnt like tight jeans or shorts. Getting used to being a shower is very different. I am still trying to figure out whats the best way to have it in my clothing. Meaning how many pumps to be most comfortable. Enjoy your journey, this is the best thing for my sex life I have done.

Elbow… totally normal and understandable. I felt the same and it intensified greatly the day of. But I kept telling myself the end justifies the means and the result will be life changing for the better. And so far, it has rung true. Even better than I had hoped.
You got this!
