Hello FT, This is my first post. Been reading for months and have gained so much knowledge. Like all of you I have a history of ED. Pills, shockwave and shots. I am about 1 month from my implant surgery 8/14/25. While I am excited for the implant, my emotions run hot and cold. I wont back out and yet deciding to have my manhood cut open works against my idea of common sense. Because of FT I have a good idea of what my out come will be. Pros and cons. Such a great addition to what the Dr's have explained. I'm 57, and in great shape, for me I decided on the Coloplast Titan. That being said I have a few questions.
1. How long after surgery did you sleep on your back? I am a side and stomach sleeper.
2. Walking the first couple days? Could you get around at all?
3. Dr. says I will be about 40% inflated. How did you all take a leak and not piss all over the toilet.
4. I go to the gym 6-7 days a week. Yes I know I cant lift for a time, however how quick can I get back to doing something?
5. I'm self employeed, I gave myself 2 weeks at home to recover. I can pick and choose what I do at work, but after 2 weeks am i gonna be able to return to work? (I know we all heal differently).
I understand most of this can be found by reading, however there is so much to read and I feel asking direct questions should help with finding the answers I'm looking for. These are the questions that return to my mind time and time again. Thank you in all in advance, I am so lucky to have found FT and a very loving supportive wife.

Hey there & welcome. I will answer obviously just off my experience. I'm a year out from my surgery & things are great.
1. I'm a side only sleeper. I lay on one side until shoulder hurts & swap throughout the night. First night sucked because I had a blood drain and the catheter in so couch & lounging. Once the catheter and drain were removed, I could sleep on my side no problem, even inflated halfway like it sounds like you'll be.
2. 1st day I could walk ok but carrying the catheter and having a suction drain sucked.
3. Honestly I either sat down to pee & pointed my dick down, peed in the bathroom sink or in the shower. Obviously I cleaned it after lol
4. I go to the gym 5 to 7 days a week & that was a concern for me too. Day 5 or 6 I went & did light upper body weights. My doctor said if I felt fine after a week(ish) I could resume light activity & I did. Within 2 weeks I was doing sets of 10 again.
5. I'm self-employed as well and own a landscape company. I do lots of manual labor. I took a week off & was fine enough to get back pruning, mowing lawns, etc after a week off. Had a bulge in my pants but not terrible. After 4 weeks I was deflated.
Hope this helps at all & congrats on your up coming solution.

Re: Questions
Jgoody covered your questions well. I agree with his thoughts
Here are some additional thoughts
You are in good health and physical shape. It is highly likely you will recover quickly ( I was having sex again around 4 weeks) and have had a terrific outcome. For me, my sexual life has been returned to me after years of heartache and I’ve never enjoyed sex as much as I do now. That’s from having a working penis and a fantastic gf/partner
Please understand that your penis in not going to be “ cut open”! The surgeon uses minimally invasive techniques to place the cylinders, reservoir and pump through a small incision just above your penis, or in the spot where your penis and scrotum meet. Don’t be fearful! You will be uncomfortable the first few days, but if you use a lot of ice and stay off your feet for a couple of days, the pain will decrease significantly. Please let us know how things go!

This is the minority opinion and THANK GOD I didn't listen to this shit!
Welcome to FT!
I'm 58 and also in shape (former body building competitor - retired from it 2 years ago). I also work out 5-6 days a week with heavy weights. I healed fast but waited 3 weeks before lifting lighter weights while seated. I'm very lean and wanted to be sure my reservoir healed well. By week 6 I worked back up to heavy weights. Walking was fine within a day and so was sleeping on my side. I was back to work in office within 2 weeks.

Hey, Silkyfox...nice to meet you.
Welcome.
!. I have always slept on my back, but I always shift around at night and I had no problems with
sleep disturbances due to discomfort.
Remember, they will be encouraging you to use some heavy duty painkillers on those first few nights anyway.
Luckily I was able to switch to Tylenol almost immediately.
2.Yes, they actually want you up and moving to some degree on day two.
You will move gingerly at first and thats to be expected.
3.Surprisingly easy to urinate at 40%. I was inflated probably around 60%.
and had no problem. Just point down and go.

4. I am an exercise junkie and I was pretty much back to normal at 6 weeks.
Clear this with your Doctor first though.
5. I went back to work after 8 days with no problem.
My work is fairly labor intensive and I had no problem, but listen to your body.
It knows best.
Good luck on your upcoming surgery.
You are going to be Blown away at how good this technology is.
Best wishes.

Re: Questions
Welcome to FrankTalk. Congrats on your impending implant. I’m thrilled with mine. It’s been better than I had anticipated and the healing process was easier than I feared.
1. How long after surgery did you sleep on your back? I am a side and stomach sleeper.
I’m largely a side sleeper too. I slept on my back for the first 4 or 5 days. That was more comfortable than trying to sleep on my side.
Once I started trying to sleep on my side I found a pillow between my thighs helped make things more comfortable.
2. Walking the first couple days? Could you get around at all?
While I COULD walk the very first day (way less pain/discomfort than I expected) I was encouraged (commanded actually) to stay flat on my back as much as possible the first three days. Ice. Ice. Ice. Ice as much as possible. Stay off your feet.
After day three I was told to increase my activity gradually while still getting my feet up whenever possible to reduce swelling.
3. Dr. says I will be about 40% inflated. How did you all take a leak and not piss all over the toilet.
Lots of tips for this: bring a urinal jig home from the hospital. Turn on the shower and piss into it. Piss in the sink. Piss sitting down.
4. I go to the gym 6-7 days a week. Yes I know I cant lift for a time, however how quick can I get back to doing something?
I think I waited 2 weeks and then gently eased back in. Walked on a treadmill instead of running the first few times. Intentionally lifted well BELOW what I usually would the first few times. Gradually increased. Take it slow.
5. I'm self employeed, I gave myself 2 weeks at home to recover. I can pick and choose what I do at work, but after 2 weeks am i gonna be able to return to work? (I know we all heal differently).
I returned to work after 11 days. I could have gone back after 7. My work is a mix of sitting, standing, walking. No heavy lifting. It was fine. I wore loose clothes and let my shirt be untucked. No one knew I had surgery of any kind. I just took vacation time.
I kept a journal documenting my surgery and healing. You can find the link for it in my signature below.

Re: Questions
Silkyfox Congrats, and enjoy. Sex three weeks post op, and wife is loving it as I am. Just walking feeling my pants brushing on my cock is arousing. I haven’t tried jeans yet, but looking forward to that material brushing on him.
I had scrotoplasty with mine so I’ll skip a couple answers here.
1. Sleeping on back. We have a big pillow case packed firm with pillows and blankets. So I just layed down put my feet up and slid down till it was just below my knees. Then cover up. After I am finished watching tv for the night I would remove pillows from behind my head. Actually comfy.
You definitely want to practice this before surgery.
When I started sleeping on side I would rotate and put a pillow under my knee and this keeps pressure off my dick.
3. Taking a piss. We have had a lot of rain so sometimes I would go outside and let it rip. In the bathroom I would put my left hand on wall and back my feet up as mush as I need to to aim.

Re: Questions
Here's what you need for urination, I have one that I use in my small airplane when traveling. If I can use it and not piss all over myself in a tiny airplane, it will work for your purpose.

Re: Questions
Thank you all for the advice, insights and assistance in answering my questions. Holding back from they gym for 6 weeks is gonna be tough. However, I am looking forward to being able to once again having the sexual realationship with my wife we once had. I am sure more questions will follow. The positive outlook from so many with similiar issues is a breath of fresh air.
