Female Implant Surgeons

Postby ElbowRoom » Wed Jul 16, 2025 9:41 am

Hey all...

I have noticed that I have not seen any members on this forum who mentioned using a female surgeon for their implant. So I guess I'm curious, does anybody here have a female surgeon that installed an IPP or MPP for them? There are a few on YouTube talking about implant surgery, but I don't know how many (if any) are considered top, high-volume surgeons.

Another question: Would you use a female for your surgery? Or would you prefer a surgeon who "has the same equipment" so they can better understand the male perspective surrounding the procedure and the penis in general?

Personally I'd be torn, but not because I'm sexist. If she was world class I'd like to think I'd be fine with it, but there is something to be said for a male surgeon who can empathize with how you feel about your penis. A woman might look at a result and say "it's fine, it's in the normal range," where a man might say "he won't be happy with that, let's see if we can make it better."

Seems like kind of the same reasoning that leads most women to prefer female Gynocologists. Just random thoughts here, curious what others think about this.

Good morning, I had the most amazing female implant surgeon. Doctor Kadee Thompsom from Sutter Health in Sacramento. Not only is she incredibly skilled, she was very down to earth, and funny. I cant speak highly snough about her, and will be going back when it comes time to get a revision. I lost no size at all, and I'm so thrilled with my AMS 700CX. Highly recommend her to anyone looking to get an implant in the Northern California area.

Female surgeons are mostly more skilled than male ones. To be a good surgeon in the world of male surgeon means a lot of fight and confidence for a female to become a good surgeon. So this said, female surgeons are better or at least very good if they become a qualified surgeon, especially female surgeons in urology, with mostly male surgeons.
In Germany for example we have a female surgeon in Frankfurt who is one of the top recommended surgeons for implants.

Yes, my implant was done by a female surgeon. Dr Karin Dolan Johnson in Billings Mt. I wasn't worried about a 'renowned' surgeon so I had it done at the closest hospital. Another man on this site had her also, after mine, with my encouragement.
She was a great, caring person Who encouraged wives to be a part of the process. I would definitely have her do anything I needed done.

I in no way meant to imply a lack of skill by women surgeons. My question is whether most men think that being treated by a man gives the benefit of him understanding the equipment from the "user perspective."

Women surgeons are fantastic, one did a spinal fusion for me that has held up marvelously for 25 years. This isn't a sexist idea, it's a question of intangibles outside of surgical skill. I don't have a strong opinion on this question, I was just curious what others thought about this.

I’d certainly use a female surgeon if she is experienced and has a good reputation. Honestly, she doesn’t need to know how it feels to be a man to be able to do the surgery at a high level.

Also, I think woman are more empathetic than men, and that may make for a better bedside manner. Surgeons of any sex are smart enough to know how important “ size” is, so I expect that if she is a busy implant surgeon, she likely has a lot of satisfied patients.

My revision was done by Dr Melissa Mendez. She was friendly, informative, and competent. She also monitors her office portal for emails and answers them promptly and with detailed answers to questions or concerns. I give her a great recommendation.
