Erosion?

Postby SwedishDave » Sun Sep 17, 2023 3:42 am

I read somewhere that the rate of erosion is 3% after 5 years for IPPs, is that true? Seems like an awful lot to me.

If you get an erosion at the glans or anywhere else, is it game over then? How do they fix it and does the fix protect against future erosions?

I didn't hear about any erosion issues or reports on FT or elsewhere. Implant failures happen at any time, but not due to erosion.
Oversizing could cause it, however, but if this is the case, a revision will be needed or avoiding inflating to the max will help. Again, I didn't hear about anything similar.

I strongly suspect that any erosion risks that you've heard of were with malleables. Inflatables actually "relax" on providing pressure to the distal & proximal ends when deflated. As posted by Finallybionic. I've read every post on FT for my entire FT membership. Plus read several years of historical posts. Erosion with a properly size inflatable just doesn't seem to be a problem.
Actually, you could argue that even aggressive implant inflations (cycling) hasn't lead to erosion. Most leading drs even reccomend steady diligent cycling. So I just don't see any evidence of an erosion risk.
There is a fad in the USA now called gaging. Ear lobes & other fleshy body parts are pierced & the hole is gradually strecthed larger.
Cycling an inflatable is a similar process but the tunica in the penis won't stretch very far. Where if a malleable is installed that is too long. The penis is under constant pressure. That constant pressure is what normally leads to erosion.
