Prostate cancer after IPP?

Postby Rider1400 » Wed Dec 07, 2022 11:13 am

I’ll start by saying I don’t have prostate cancer and my numbers are normal. However I have two friends who have in the last couple year had prostate cancer and had a radical prostectomy. Both were left at least 1-1/2” short due to the removal of that same amount of the urethra. One of my friends was just implanted and the other is waiting til his Dr will allow him to get an implant. My question is has any of you or someone you know already had an implant and later on got cancer and had a radical removal? I understand that the implant doesn’t involve that part of the urethra… but how would a radical affect the use of the implant? Looks like it would rip the reconnected urethra apart just by the pressure of the deflated implant much less pumping it up with a shortened urethra….

You bring up a good point. Somewhere on FT I read that the implant doesn't affect a prostate removal. Just a non informed mans opinion. I'd guess that the patient would be advised to not inflate until they were fairly certain that the urethra had healed suffiently.
