Deflated immediately after surgery?

So I had the Coloplast Titan put in today. Lots of postop pain particularly where the reservoir was installed sub muscular. Chewing all then oral pain meds in the hotel room tonight.

Bigger concern - i couldn’t pee postop at all. They hadn’t left a ucath in. After trying many things they finally deflated the implant. Got out 6 hours after surgery ended after I managed to pee with severe straining.

Anybody else get deflated on the surgery date and things work out okay? They said they’ll probably inflate again in two weeks but it’s a virtual appt and it’s not clear I can figure it out just with FaceTime coaching.

As much as I disliked having a catheter in, it does not seem to me to be an appropriate "standard of care" that the AMA (assuming your surgery was in the United States) would approve.

I had surgery 10.26 with Dr. Paul Perito. He sent me home deflated. I've been able to pee although the pressure of my stream is lower than normal.

I go back 11.7 to have my staples removed and he will activate me then.

Thanks guys - nah my guy is state of the art when it comes to this IMO. I’d rather think that he makes you prove you need a ucath before putting one in.

I will say that when his resident went in to deflate it it was one of the most painful things I’ve ever experienced. Despite fentanyl oxy and other pain meds. Even had a dilaudid shot prior.

Dunbar, any reason Perito did it that way? Seems the most common is to leave it 60-70% inflated for two weeks. I read elsewhere this is thought to reduce hemorrhage. No clue myself obviously.
