Penis skin is easily irritated

I developed a severe atopic dermatitis reaction to the ingredients of hydrocortisone and aspercream with lidocaine to relieve the pain from the kinked tubing in my scrotum at the end of April. My scrotum is pretty much healed now but the skin on the underside of my penis is real sensitive (not in a good way) and easily irritated by using it for sex or just hanging in my underwear. The dermatologist at the VA was wondering if my implant had anything to do with it. I feels like a mild sunburn normally and a 2nd degree if irritated. Anyone have any issues like this?

Not that it is more likely, but may be easier to test:
Could you have developed a sensitivity to your underwear or the detergent in which it is washed?

Just a shot in the dark, but something to test.

I had that feeling after my implant, like my penis was sunburned. It would get worse if I inflated. I believe that was a reaction to the antibiotic impregnated on the cylinders. But that went away by 6 months and was less and less severe as each month passed. I used Aspercream for a few months to ease the burn with no side effects. A small dab smeared along my shaft kept things quiet for a few hours.
Not sure why you would have that sensation so long after surgery. Discuss a possible reaction to antibiotics with your doc is my best advice.

Thanks Old Guy. They did a skin culture at the VA and said it was a bacterial infection and put me on an antibiotic, Gentamicin. Hope it works, although it has gotten better in the last few weeks.
