Which incision is better

Postby drayan123 » Sun Jul 24, 2022 2:40 am

I’ve been many videos on how surgeons operate on different people from different techniques ny question is which would be a better option and what is the difference when doctors do the surgery they make an incision above the penis and also seen surgeons put the implant through your scrotum now I’m just lost whag is the difference?

I've had both and I think the healing would be quicker with infrapubic

I'm not a doctor, so I cannot explain the difference.

As far as I was concerned, whichever approach my doctor typically used was the best for me.

I wasn't about to try to tell him what to do, and I wanted him to do the best job that he could.

I asked my doc to do the scrotal. He said wait and see. I was pleasantly surprised that he did it for me and I recommend it.

Choose a good doc, and then the best incision is whichever they prefer. There seem to be really good docs who prefer IP and really good docs who prefer scrotal, so who am I to judge? I went with a high-volume doc in my area who had good reviews on FT. My doc, here in the SF bay area, happens to use IP, but the most commonly recommended doc in New York uses scrotal, so if I lived there that's probably what I would have had.

I have seen comments where people said they wanted to ask their doc to use a particular method. I wouldn't do that. I want the doc to do whatever is most comfortable for them, which is also, presumably, what they've had the most practice with.

At the risk of repeating myself within days (which never really bothered me) I’ll say it again.

Both penoscrotal and infrapubic techniques are widely accepted and industry standards, if you will.

The fact that some doctors prefer one and other doctors prefer the other doesn’t mean either is wrong.

Supposedly infrapubic makes it easier to hang a reservoir and penoscrotal makes it easier to place the pump within the scrotum. Some of us infrapubic guys had to pull or tug on the pump within the scrotum to get it to seat in a convenient location. On the other hand (I always have all the hands I need) I’ve had a gazillion hernia repairs with mesh and stuff and the reservoir was thought to possibly be a challenge. Not only can I not see it or feel it, I don’t even know where he installed it. It’s gotta be in there someplace.

If you’re really married to one method over another, discuss it with the doc. I heartily recommend letting the doctor use whichever technique he thinks gives you the greatest chance for a successful outcome.
