It Could BE Worse

Postby mschicago » Tue Jul 19, 2022 12:15 am

ED, penile atrophy, the inability to perform, etc. is extremely depressing and weighs on me every day (as I am sure it does for many others on this forum). However, I just finished speaking with an acquaintance of mine who went blind 9 years ago (same issue as Kirby Puckett) and now has been diagnosed with a neurological issue which results in the inability to speak at times and results in the words that come out of his mouth not matching what he wants to say at other times. He’s 48.

I will keep this in mind when I get down about ED. It can be dealt with. It can always be worse.

Yup - things could be worse. I had a stroke that completely killed my libido after dealing with ED for years and finally getting an implant. So my ED was fixed but my sex life ended anyway. The only slightly bright spot, relatively speaking, was that with no libido I didn't care about the sex.

There was an old song called Lord forgive me when I whine. It was about this very subject. Life can bring things to us that we never anticipated and there's always something to be thankful for

As humans we all try to deal with whatever issue faces us. Fortunately, modern medical science can help with some problems. Some are not as lucky. Some handle issues as best they can. Some handle issues like it's the only thing in the world that matters. Being in the medical field for 25 years made me see all sides of how people handle issues.
All we can do is be happy to be alive no matter what life hands us. The other option doesn't look good.

On the other hand, sometimes a good long dirt nap doesn't sound so bad...

Dave was your stroke as a result of your IPP operation? What did you do when your prosthesis failed? I hear if they remove it within a few weeks there's not enough left to hold onto to pee.

No, the stroke (a brainstem embolism) occurred before the implant and was not connected in any way with the implant surgery. When my implant stopped working, I contacted Dr. Kramer for his advice - he said he could repair it, replace it, or remove it, or I could just ignore it. I chose the latter.

The only problem with that is its permanent.
