i saw Dr. Kevin McVary at Loyola in Chicago today and he was very positive. Assured me that I will not lose any length, and that I can drive as long as I'm off opioids for 24 hours. Now I just have to schedule it. I'll keep you all informed as to how things are progressing, but I'm excited at the possibility of finally being able to penetrate!
Dr. McVary said that i would probably get an AMS 700 CX.
Wish me luck.

What is your primary issue causing ED? Did you see any other for consults? I’m also in Chicagoland area.

Re: I'm ready!
Hard to say what the primary issue causing the ED is. I've probably had it for 15-20 years. I initially noticed it when I was on an antidepressant -- SSRI's are known to cause libido issues and ED. I have been off the SSRI's for a while, but my ED has not gone away. It may be partly psychological at this point, but I have tried Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra, vacuum pumps, and injections. I can get hard but can't maintain it when I attempt to penetrate.
As far as other consults, I have not seen anyone but Dr. McVary at Loyola, but I did ask my regular urologist about him and he was highly complimentary. The Loyola urology department is renowned as one of the best around. Dr. McVary has been consistently listed as a Castle Connolly top doctor. I did ask him about his experience, and he told me he has done approximately 50 implants a year for 30 years. Dr. Levine at Rush is probably the best known implant surgeon in the area, but I do have every confidence in Dr. McVary after seeing him today and doing my research.

I’ve seen both Levine and Kansal in the area for consults. If I go surgery I’ll probably choose Levine. Good luck.

Good luck on your journey!
Be aware - DRIVING post implant is going to be quite uncomfortable. If you have the ability to stay local for at least 3 days or have someone drive you so you can recline and ice the boys - you will thank me.

That is a good thought. I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm probably more anxious than some people to return to driving because my wife doesn't. I'll plan to wait at least a week depending on how I feel.

Yes, definitely keep driving to a minimal for the first couple of weeks. Thought I was doing ok enough to drive on day 5. Went to pick up granddaughter from school, she ended up in a after school class for 45 minutes so I sat. The next few days were miserable. Didn't get in a car for two weeks after that.
