Hi Everyone,
Im taking the big step and have a surgery date for my penile implant with Dr Eid in NYC June 24,2022. Pre-op is June 9. Can I get some information on what questions to ask at pre-op? Also general advice would be nice. What to expect, what could go wrong etc.

Re: Implant
During my pre-op meeting with my doctor, I asked a lot of questions to reassure me that I wanted him to do this surgery. He's an experienced, excellent surgeon, but not one of the big names, like Dr. Eid.
You'll want to know what you have to do ahead of time for surgery. For example, there may be a whole cleaning protocol for the groin area.
If I were you, I would ask what he will do during the procedure. I think it's helped me relax knowing what would happen.
You'll want to know what you will have to do and need after the surgery. I needed lots of gauze the first two weeks as a cushion between my dick and the jock strap holding it in place, for example.
And you should know what the plan is for recovery. Such as how long the doctor will leave you partially inflated, when you can lift more than five pounds, when you will be able to have sex, etc.
I would be most concerned about infection. Follow the doctor's instructions to minimize that risk.
Overall, my surgery and recovery went pretty smoothly. There was some discomfort and pain. There were times when I questioned my decision to have the surgery. But by four-plus months after the surgery, I was, and still am, very, very happy with the outcome.

Echoing the previous suggestions.
You will be quite uncomfortable traveling directly following surgery - so be sure to have some ice packs ready.
Ask about urine cath. I was Cath'ed and sent home to return on day 3 to have the catheter removed. Not all doctors do this, but some do. I also had a drain for fluid in the pubic area. That came out on day 3.
Good luck with pre-op and procedure. Happy to chat if you have more questions. Send me a PM and we can set up Zoom or phone call.

Hi Markpt
Ice, Ice, Ice the first two days. The hospital can give you extra ice bags. One on each side, one on top of your dick and i sat on one to get the balls better. Dr Eid did mine in December. It was a Friday so i was horizontal the weekend
except for going to lunch at a restaurant in the hotel on Sunday, then Monday he took out the Catheter and you start cycling that afternoon if all looks good. He will give you directions and meds for recovery. Keep ahead of the pain. He does a stretch and injection prior to confirm your size and tell you what he will be using. His nurses are very helpful too.
I'm in NYC if you need anything. Keep us up to date. You will do fine.

Wish you well. Ask the surgeon anything, don't be shy because they have heard it all before.
Post op be ready with ice bags (bags of frozen peas work), a comfy spot to lay down, and someone to be with you for 24-48 hours after surgery. If you're doing it out-patient bring someone with to hear all the post-op instructions such as removal of the drain bag and catheter. I was loopy afterwards and glad wife got all the info.
Pre-op you'll probably need to shower with an antibiotic soap the day before and day of surgery. Do not shave pubes. Keep your penis stretched out as much as possible, some suggest using a VED (vacuum device). My doc said no sex the few days prior, like I could anyway huh.

Thanks for info. Was it hard to take out catheter? They want me to do it on my own.

My surgery was outpatient, and went home with the catheter in. They gave me complete instructions on removing it, but I was really dreading it, worried how much it was going to hurt. The morning after, I took a deep breath, followed the instructions, and the thing came right out. I couldn't really feel much of anything as it slid out easily, totally pain free. Hope my experience makes you feel better about it. Good luck!

Remember after surgery. Ice,ice, ice. I used frozen peas and frozen corn. They make great reusable cheap ice packs that don’t leak. Ice will be your friend. One week of discomfort then things will heal up. Good luck

Re: Implant
Is it feasible to take a train home 3 days after surgery? Say 5 hours trip door to door including waits, and carrying a small bag of luggage. Obviously icing is out of the question during trip.
