How should I prepare before initial implant consultation?

Postby tonydante » Mon May 30, 2022 11:28 am

Finally, after waiting for a long time, I've got an initial online consultation with Dr. Ralph tomorrow. I am wondering if I should prepare in some special way. For example, what questions will I be asked? I'd appreciate it if anyone who's gone through the same process gives some advice and shares on the topic.

My initial consult was in person, but you need to openly and honestly answer questions about your history with ED, the care you have received previously, and steps taken to overcome the ED (pills, injections, VED etc.). In my case doctor did an exam of my dick and balls, which can't happen during a tele-med visit. Don't be embarrassed or shy about your problem, he's there to help you. Best of luck.

I think SteveSW gave you some good advice. Be frank with the doc because you know he has seen and heard it all before. Let him know what you've tried, what works, what fails. Don't be afraid to ask questions you have because again, he's been asked them all before many times.
My main advice is keep working on your penis, keep it stretched, pliable and maybe try a VED so you don't lose size.
Good Luck moving forward.

I took a list of questions with me. If I had a question I wrote it down and took it in the room with me during the consult. Also took pictures soft and hard and measured to show him. He told me he wished all his patients came that prepared. Hakky sat down and went over my list and wrote down the answers on the same paper for me. He was very kind and easy to to talk to. He was like talking to a friend. He wasn't shocked my my questions or pictures. So prepare, prepare, prepare. you won't regret it.
It's the only dick you have and this is permanent so don't leave anything to chance or be ashamed to ask anything. Best of luck to you

Lots of (always) good advice here.

If I may add - bring your partner too. My wife had a ton of questions and it helped for her and I to hear the same message. Our physician was candid, authentic, and took a ton of time making sure to answer everything.

And, I will footstomp.....stifle thy pride. Leave your humility at the door. Ask CANDID questions. There is nothing the doc hasn't seen or heard before.

Bring some humor. You gotta laugh. YOU WILL get there. Be encouraged!

Sadly, I don't have a partner because I've stayed away from dating with this problem. Nonetheless, the consultation went pretty good. Ralph carefully listened to me explain my situation and took the time to answer all my questions. He was very understanding and assuring. He said that I am free to book an in person consultation with him, and if everything's okay, he could operate the next day. Of course, I have some worries, mainly about the potential size loss. I don't think I'm ready to do this just now, so I will take some time to research and think about everything.

Overall, I'm relieved that I am just a phone call, a flight, and a consultation away from potentially having a working penis. I will update soon.

Tonydante, sometimes just knowing that there is someone that understands you & could offer a solution is emotionally reassuring. Even if you decide to wait.
Many times members have said how ED has hurt their emotional health. You've made the first step.

I don't know whether or not you are still getting erections but you mentioned fear of losing size. If you are not getting regular erections you will lose size and lots of times it can't be recovered after scar tissue set in. Just saying that shouldn't be holding you back
