implant surgery/recovery

Postby iwantanewone » Mon May 09, 2022 11:07 am

Good morning,

Surgery is around the corner. Anxiety is setting in quickly. How many were up and about and out at 1-week post-surgery/2nd week/3rd week? Meaning out to dinner- feeling fairly ok.... walking/shopping/etc....Planning down time....
Thanks!

After three weeks I was back at work (sedentary job). I could have gone back after two, but since I had the leave time took it.

I stayed horizontal almost 100% of the time for the first week. Staying so leads to quicker healing.

Scrotal insertion of the implant is a bit more uncomfortable than infra-pubic, but seems to lead to better placement of the pump and tubing. So, your surgeon's approach has a bit to do with recovery time. Also, your surgeon's experience has a GREAT deal to do with your level of discomfort and speed of recovery. Experience matters a lot.

Dr Eid pioneered what he calls "no-touch technique" that minimizes bleeding (which reduced bruising) and minimizes risk of infection. Many surgeons now use that technique.

Good luck.

I was implanted by Eid and ventured downstairs in the hotel to the restaurant for lunch the second day. I was horizontal really two days with lots and lots of constant ice. I also had taken two weeks off and was feeling pretty good about the fourth day. By weeks end i felt fine and was cycling. Yes the dick was a little uncomfortable for the first week or so but it was more a discomfort than pain. I enjoyed a relaxed stay-cation the second week.

I moved around very little the first few days, and when I finally took a walk, I wished I had gone sooner because I lost strength and wind in those few days.

I was out of work for a little over two weeks. I'm on my feet a lot for work, and I struggled with soreness and discomfort for a while after I went back. But I needed to go back because I was going stir crazy.

If your doctor is like mine, he or she will leave you partially inflated with instructions to keep your dick pointed up toward your belly button, held in place by a jock strap, until you go back after two weeks. This meant I only wore loose sweat pants, and I wasn't going anywhere in public other than the pharmacy for supplies in that state.

Don't want to scare you but I was the freak that took a long time to heal. At 68 my first ever surgery. It was 10 days out and I drove the car, bad decision. At 3 weeks out wife and I took a trip, another bad decision. At 7 weeks out I was finally able to tolerate sitting in a dining room chair, other than that I was on the couch for 2-3 months. Didn't help grandson headbutted me straight in the tip of my shaft at 6 weeks either. Just be easy afterwards, you'll handle it.

1st week will suck. Bruising and swelling seem outrageous but are normal. Just lie there, keep ice on it, take your meds and watch tv. 2nd week is much better. Go for short walks. 3rd week is worlds better. Start back to work if you have an easy sit-down job. 4th week is almost like it never happened. Start cycling your implant. Be aware pumping it up seems very difficult at first but you will get the hang of it.

Don't make the mistake that I did and attempt to do too much too soon. Each day after the 2 week mark got progressively better and at the 4 week mark, I felt pretty close to normal. After 6 weeks I was able to resume weight training, slowly. Spend enough time on here and you'll see that everyone heals at different rates.
