Does anyone know how long does the scar capsule around the reservoir take to form?
I can't seem to find any studies.

I watched a podcast where one of the surgeons said the encapsulation process started as soon as they closed you up. I think that is the main reason for getting sent home inflated.

Re: Scar capsule around Reservoir
I think people's experience varies.
I was only left inflated overnight and was sent on my way deflated.
I didn't cycle for 3 weeks.
I never experienced any problems deflating since then.
When I push the deflate button, I deflate and never have to squeeze fluid from the shaft.
I know I may be an outlier on this, but I'll take it.

GT1956 is right. Scar tissues begins to form immediately. You body's healing mechanisms do not wait for the wurgeon to finish or your schedule to tell it to start scar formation. It has no reason to wait.
Tomas1, I think, if I read his post correctly, has it backwards. Scar tissue formation around a deflated reservoir (which means an inflated penile implant) would make it difficult to deflate. Tomas1's ease deflating could well be attributed to having his reservor's scar tissue capsule as large as a fully filled reservoir. Remember that inflation of the implant is able to be foreceully applied, where deflaton is not able to be forced by the pump. His ease of inflation could well be attributed to many causes. Some men are lucky.

I know you said you searched, but perhaps not far enough back in the pas.
Taking a couple weekends to read through past posts will give you a HUGE bolus of information, much quicker and complete than you will get from current participants of FrankTalk can give you. Some contributors may be gone from the forum, but their information is still here.
Example:
This article refers to the differences that early activation (EA) vs no early activation (NEA) of the inflatable prosthesis
Title" Pseudo-capsule “coffin” effect: How to prevent penile retraction after implant of three-piece inflatable prosthesis
Authors: Enrico Caraceni, Lilia Utizi, Giovanni Angelozzi; Department of Urology, Civitanova Marche Hospital, Italy.
Short Summary: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25017596
Longer summary: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25017596
with this sentence: "The result is a penis bigger in flaccid state but smaller in erect phase, when early activation is not performed"
Full article: https://www.researchgate.net/publicatio ... prosthesis
This article was obviously translated from the original Italian, so there may be some grammar issues to overlook.
And this thread might be of interest: "Over what timespan does Scar Tissue form post-op? (And can it be reversed)?"

Re: Scar capsule around Reservoir
I was discharged from hospital fully inflated. After reading these forums (too late by then) this didn’t seem right so I got another appointment (had to wait 2 weeks). By the time I was finally deflated the reservoir was as least partially encapsulated. As a result of this I haven’t been able to fully deflate since although there is some improvement. I’m now 8 months out

Very little is said about reservoir encapsulation. The lack of the pump's ability to provide positive pressure to deflation (inflating the reservoir) is something I mentioned to my surgeon. He told me if I came up with a design to construct a valve that would be able to both pump up the implant as well as to pump up the reservoir, he would forward it to the manufacturers.
Getting extra valving to allow this has proved elusive. To much complication, size and increased points of failure.

Re: Scar capsule around Reservoir
Lost Sheep, yeah, I missed that uninflated means the reservoir would be inflated.
There seems to also be a tradeoff between scar tissue forming either around the reservoir or the cylinders.

Keep working on the design please Lost Sheep, otherwise I’m condemned to a 30 year semi

I have been distracted by having so much sex, sorry.
The current best practice seems to be to squeeze your penis down. Two techniques that seem to be workable. are; 1) to wrap your hand around your penis and squeeze finger-by-finger working from distal shaft (just behind the glans) towards the base and then folding or scrunching the penis into your hand and squeezing some more and 2) wrapping a towel around your penis and squeezing down hard.
Some people swear that putting a single pump in (to lock the inflation valve) will prevent backflow into the implant (auto-inflation). That never made sense to me, but first-hand testimony is hard to dismiss. Differences between the AMS (which I have) and the various designs of Coloplast valves may make a difference. I have no information on Zephyr valve design or operation.
To help with your particular situation, I believe scar tissue can be stretched over time. It will take diligence, perseverance and patience.
