Effect of High Blood Pressure on Erections

I was just wondering if anyone who has a good understanding of how high blood pressure can effect erections could help me. Im trying to get my blood pressure down (it seems to hover around 170/100) and ever since I was diagnosed with high blood pressure my erections have been terrible. Is there a chance that if I find the right medication with my doctor and get it under control that the quality of my erections will improve? I cant find any information about this but it seems logical to me as long as I dont use beta blockers or diuretics as they can make erections worse.

Oral phentolamine is an approved ED drug and high blood pressure treatment, you may want to check it out.

I’ve had Hypertension for about five years.
One of my Causes for ED. I’ve on 20-mg of lisinipril last 3 years.
HP restricts Blood Flow causing Erection issues.
Meds plus a better Diet & Exercise can make a big difference

Thanks guys I really appreciate the replies. It makes sense that if I can get my blood pressure down that the quality of erections should increase but I guess its finding the balancing act of medication that doesnt actually contribute to the problem. My diet and exercise regime is actually really good but it turns out this is a genetic thing that goes right through the family. Anyway heres hoping I can bring this down and start have a better time with it... life is short and I want to get this nailed before it gets completely out of hand.

Did they put you on Hypertension meds yet.
They got me on Lisinopril . Started at 20-mg once a day then after about 4- years on Viagra/Soldinafil . But startted have Low BP episodes. So had to stop taking the Viagra.
Im now on Trimix Injections. But after steady exercise/ walking everyday im downnto 5-mg of BP meds..

HIgh BP is from Plaque build up in arteries causing
Restrictions and less Flow to Penis for Erections.

Anxiety and high blood pressure effects erections big time. I have high blood pressure and use to have anxiety about not getting it up and keeping it up! I still take metaprol for hbp and it takes care of that. Talk to your doctor right away, that high of hbp is not good. I had a heart attack from it before my implant. Not trying to freak you out, but you better get it under control for your health first.

I really appreciate the info. I really feel like this is a physical thing related to blood pressure as my libido is totally dead too and has been for some time. Im working with my Doc to get it down and ill see if it has any effect on erections and sex drive. It makes sense that HBP would effect both these things so fingers crossed theres some resolution.. Ive tried viagra but it didnt work very well which I guess would point to blood pressure problems also.
