So many questions so many fears

Postby MacOcho77 » Sat Aug 14, 2021 4:41 pm

Peace to you all. 44 yr type 2 diabetic. Severe ED for a few years now. I've tried everything most recently doing injections and I believe that's how I've arrived to this point earlier this year I noticed a significant indentation on the right side of my penis that is now moved to the left side. After doing my own research I discovered I have developed peyronie's. After seeing my urologist he then tells me I have lots of scaring in the penis probably due to all the needles. Smfh he tells me my next option is the implant. Honestly speaking I want my life back but I have come across so many threads which scare the ish outta me. So many questions if anyone out there can help me out with your personal experiences it would be greatly appreciated.
I'm nervous about being a type 2 diabetic and the issue of infection
How about the loss of size is that a matter of fact?
Will oral sex be possible or would my spouse feel the prosthesis.
How can I see if my surgeon has a good success rate?
How long after my 1st appointment (this friday) would the actual surgery usually take?
Any help from the forum would be helpful. I thank you all

I came out of surgery the same size I went in, but did lost about 1/2" in girth.

Yes, oral is possible and feels great. For me I can choose the degree of hardness that feels best for me. My husband says he can't really feel the implant with his mouth, but loves how hard it is, and stays.

I talked to the manufacturers rep, the patient advocate and 2 patients of the doctor I ultimately chose.

Right now, in many areas hospitals are not doing elective surgeries due to Covid. Depends a lot on where you live, and mostly it is determined by your surgeons schedule.

Ask all the questions you want/need, and especially read the journals and threads. They will give you and enormous amount of information. Implant was the best thing I've ever done.

Hey Mac,
I just had surgery a week ago. I had every concern you did plus a host more. I had issues for 19 years and for the last 3 nothing. It took me 2 years of nothing to start considering this then another 6 months to actually get the courage to take the step. I had my initial consult in March and then took another couple of months to call to schedule to surgery. It’s a big step, but like you I had no other options. Finding this board and reading all the journals provided the most help in cementing my decision.

I can’t tell you about doctor stats and I think scheduling comes down to the individual doctor.

This last week has been an emotional roller coaster, but overall much much better than i I thought it was going to be. I’m still few weeks out from actually having sex, but omg I can’t wait.

Your questions;

Infection - my biggest fear. I’ve gotten infections in my last 2 knee surgeries. Choosing the best doctor you can, someone who does a lot of these and has a good rep for it is the main factor. I drove from Boston to NYC to have mine done.

Size - If you are extra wide, it seems you do lose some girth. I was fairly average in girth and I gained width. The Titan adds more girth than AMS (AMS has a coating and I believe has lower infection rate though) Length comes down to a good doctor and then following the directions in post care. Cycle early and often. I went in planning on losing 1/2”. Right now, think I’m going to come out the same.

Oral sex - So, My wife gave me heads last night for the first time. I just asked her and she said she could not tell the difference. I told her why I’m asking and she is not one to be polite. She followed up with it was the most fun she’s had giving head on 10 years. I’m probably 10 to 14 days from having sex. I don’t know how I can wait that long.

I can’t help you with the doctor questions, but make sure you are happy and confident with him. Shop around if not. There are 2 or 3 guys that are pretty popular on these boards. I don’t know if travel is possible or not.

The last week has been a roller coaster emotionally and physically. Right now, I’m incredibly happy with my decision. Physically I’m further asking than I thought would be, but it’s not perfect. I’m sticking out 90 degrees perpendicular in my body which is troublesome and even fully deflated I feel like I have an erection 24/7. I know both of these issues will be resolved with time and proper underwear. I’m no longer in pain, but definitely discomfort that Tylenol handles pretty well.

Feel free to ask me any questions. You can shoot my a private message if you prefer.

I didn't have any infections during my recovery, but I'm not diabetic. If you have an experienced, good-quality surgeon, he or she should have protocols for you to follow both before and after surgery that will minimize your chances of getting an infection.

This leads me to the question about your surgeon's success rate. I know Coloplast has a rating for surgeons for the Titan implant because I looked up my doctor, and he had a high rating. I can't find that page online now. But you can ask the doctor how many surgeries he or she does a month. Mine does 5 to 9 between new implants and repairs, so he's doing this surgery regularly. I asked him how often he was fixing implants he put in, and he said very few, and it was always because the patient didn't follow his directions. You can search this forum for what guys may have said about your surgeon, too.

I didn't lose any size between my pre-op hard one and how I am fully inflated. My shape along the shaft is slightly different, but I look fine. And now I have a shower when I'm deflated; whereas, I was a grower before. I like that difference.

Oral sex is good. My wife enjoys giving me head, and hasn't said anything about feeling the implant.

I cannot predict how long it will be until you have the surgery. I first met with my doctor in February of last year. It was a battle to get approval for the surgery from my insurance company, so I didn't get the go ahead until July. I could have gotten the surgery at the end of August, but because of my work schedule, I pushed the date to the end of October.

I hope this helps.
