After my wife and I discussed an implant (and I explained her concerns to her satisfaction), I found a urologist I trusted and set a date for the surgery. Because I needed his assistance with the process, I told my son. He understood what it was and just said, "Good for you." I don't know that he is approaching needing an implant. I hope he doesn't, but seriously considers it, if so. Whatever we do, I know the discussion will come up in the future.
There are a host of those of us over 55, 60 on FT. Do we have any second generation Bionics among us or on the "outskirts" of FT?
