Yes, for 6 weeks prior and Yes, but don't go crazy. 5" of vacuum for 30 minutes, twice a day.

You can get an inexpensive one off on line sales but get one with a gauge to monitor vacuum. And if it has an automotive type pump be very careful to pump slowly. Even low vacuum too quickly can cause damage. The really fine blood vessels need time to move the blood. So pump slowly and wait. You can get a medical grade device also as use in the second of a couple of good documents on this below.

Yes I did and my urologist recommended it. I used one for 18 months between prostate surgery and implant. I started using it to try to stop size loss after the surgery and also to encourage blood flow through my penis as I was totally impotent after the surgery.
Initially I bought a manual pump from an adult website but this broke twice in 3 months. I then bought a Mojo automatic VED with gauge which I used up until my surgery. The seal stretched somewhat in 15 months of use but otherwise very reliable. Beware of sucking a testicle in when using a VED as that can hurt

I used a VED for 3 months before surgery. I'd had a lot of atrophy with over 15 years of ED before the implant. My doctor was very clear that in my case stretching the tissues of my penis would definitely help him put in a longer implant. He instructed me to use the VED four times a day for 30 minutes each time. I didn't always make four, but probably averaged 3 times a day.

After doing some research here at some penis exercise sites, it seemed clear that to get the most pressure I could without causing damage it would be best to get a VED with a gauge that could measure the amount of pressure I was using. I already had an expensive medical grade VED with a motor- just push a button and it did the work of creating the suction - but it didn't have a gauge and stopped at a very "safe" level of pressure. It might have been good for getting some rigidity and then adding constriction rings to allow for sex, but it didn't seem to be giving as much stretch as I wanted. I went to Ebay and found a few manufacturers that had a package that included a manual pump, a pressure gauge, and various sized acrylic tubes. I bought one with a smaller tube and it worked very well. Both length and girth seemed affected. After a while I was "packing" the tube and was able to buy a tube with a larger diameter.

I'm very happy with the result, and when I talk with other men here, I always recommend a VED with a gauge. Knowing how much pressure I was using gave me confidence that I could push it a little harder while still keeping safe.

Hope you find what you're looking for. The brand I chose on Ebay was LeLuv, fwiw, but there are others.

The plus side on LeLuv is that they have various diameters of cylinders so get one that's appropriate to your maximum girth. Also, you'll need to buy the vacuum device separately most likely (or at least I did when I purchased from Amazon.)

Be aware though, LeLuv uses diameter rather than girth. If you need to figure out your diameter based on girth, there's a formula to use or just look up "Circumference to Diameter calculator" on Google.

If you want to use the pump to get an erection and keep that erection with a constriction ring (a tight band that keeps the blood in) then you’ll want a medical grade one.

If you want one to increase or maintain size, then a sex shop one will be fine. I got a cheap one with a gauge on it on Amazon for about $15. It works fine.
