New Implant 3 Weeks Post Op - PLEASE HELP

Postby OB1DRO » Tue Dec 29, 2020 1:23 pm

Hello Gentlemen,

This is my first time on the Frank Talk chat and I am truly grateful for all the information (I no longer feel alone)! I am 57 years old and have been married 23 years.

My ED started after I have a prostatectomy, radiation treatments (38 sessions) and hormone therapy (5 months) due to positive lymph nodes found after surgery almost 4 years ago. I waited to get an implant after surgery and cancer treatments and after trying shots (only a few times), pills, pumps and cock rings. I am 3 weeks and 1 day post op with a Titan Coloplast Implant.

I received what I consider poor post op instructions from my doctor. I was not told to use supportive underway, alternate the direction of my penis nor recommendations to ice my scrotum to reduce swelling. After 1 week and 5 days I had go back into the doctor's office to get my penis deflated as it was approximately 6.5" standing straight out. It hurt like HELL (throbbing and burning) and I could barely walk!!! The physician assistant told me I was inflated to approximately 70%. He completely deflated it and I will go back for cycling instructions in 2 more weeks.

I only used a half dosage of the narcotics for the first week at night to sleep (which I barely did). I am know using Tylenol once or twice a day and occasionally Ibuprofen when I really need it. Up until 2 days ago, I could barely walk as the pump knob in my scrotum was rubbing against the front of my scrotum which made walking extremely painful. I believe the skin intend to cover the pump knob was not doing so. I believe l massaged it back in place and I believe the issue may be resolved. Also, my scrotum swelling has started to reduce considerably after I started wearing support underway.

I have three questions:

1. How long (weeks or months) should I expect to have to pain at the base of my penis (the hinge)?
2. How long should I expect the pump knob in my scrotum to be sore and uncomfortable?
3. Will I ever to able to comfortably wear pant (slim cut or suit) or swimming trunks without looking like I have a sausage stuck in them (I have to dress for work and I swam 3 times per week prior to COVID)?

Any insight, experiences or information you would be willing to share is greatly appreciated!!!!

Yes, my doc didn't give me much for follow up info either. I got left inflated about 60% until week 5 because at week 2 I was still too sore to let doc touch it. I basically wore nothing but sweat pants with knit boxer briefs for maybe 6-8 months. I used satin briefs in bed. A kids sock to cover my sore penis. Hot baths after ok'd by surgeon. A dab of Aspercream smeared on my shaft to ease the pain. I was a slow healer, unfortunately.
So for me the pain at the base lasted for 2 1/2 - 3 months. If I squeeze hard it's still causes mild soreness.
The pump was painful until swelling went down, maybe 2 months. I would still get minor pain when squeezing the bulb up to the 5th or 6th month, mainly the skin on my sack.
At this point, 13 months out, my flaccid state is way bigger than ever before. I just commented to the wife last week that I don't think I could ever wear my bathing suit again in public again. In my boxer briefs my bulge makes me look huge. In jeans my bulge isn't as noticeable, but it took me a long time to be comfortable wearing jeans again. I still wear sweats often, but always have a long hoodie to help cover the bulge if I'm in public.
All in time, and the end result will make you thank yourself for doing it.

The thing with Tylenol is it is NOT an anti inflammatory med. Ibuprofen is. Tylenol is processed out of your system by your liver and Ibuprofen by your kidneys'. I had read that by alternating the 2 gave really good pain control and also split the load on my organs. If you take 2 of each you can take 1 of each instead. My doctors discharge instructions directed to use Motrin. So I would say to switch over to Motrin unless there is a medical reason not to. But you stated you do take it. My GP doc had me off NSIAD's and I just did this for a short while. So you might ask your doc about this. Hope this helps and welcome to the site.
