CX vs Titan Again

Postby mike123 » Fri Sep 04, 2020 11:12 am

I'll be getting implanted in October (can't wait). Like so many others here I've been reading review after review of the CX and the Titan. I had pretty much made the decision to go with the CX. I liked the greater firmness of the Titan when erect, and the softer material and (generally) greater concealability of the CX when flaccid. I figured that I would be flaccid far more often than erect so the softer material of the CX had me going in that direction.

Many surgeons will implant either and have no real preference of one over the other. Others are firmly in one camp or the other. I met with my surgeon yesterday (Dr Dineen in Daytona Beach, FL) and discussed it. After all my reading here, I thought I was reasonably knowledgeable on the subject, but what he said surprised me. Dineen has been doing implants for 40 years and is a highly skilled surgeon. He used to heavily favor the AMS because of a high failure rate on the Titans. The Titans weren't nearly strong enough and had a high blow out rate. Over the last several years, though, the problem has been fixed and today the Titan's are rock solid. That part I knew. He also said that over the last few years, nearly all of the revisions he has done have been AMS. He says he has lost faith in AMS and is now firmly in the Titan camp.

I trust Dineen's opinion, but at that same time, there are other very well respected surgeons saying the opposite. Now I'm back wondering what to do. I think it would probably be a good idea to go talk to Brady in Orlando. I don't recall from my readings whether he has a preference of implant.

If your surgeon feels like either one would be a good fit for you equally...Well, hard to say. I can definitely tell you the Titan flaccid is a whole other beast, at least right at the start. It basically gets slightly foldable when deflated, but still wants to be an erection! It's improving day by day though...This is my 3rd day deflated, and I finally was able to put on pants. :D

My guess would be it will come down to your size and comfort levels. If you're targeting a better flaccid, I think AMS is a good choice. If you're going for the rock hardest erection, and a somewhat smaller pump, go with the Titan. Also if you're smaller than 15-16cm in length, AMS might be a better fit. Less need for the structural stability that a Titan gives.
