Slow leak back to the reservoir?

Postby young_and_impotent » Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:57 am

I tend to inflate my implant before going to sleep. When I wake up a lot of the fluid is gone back from the tubings. Is this normal?

Also if I tend to squeeze the implant the implant deflates(no need to press the button)

The pump doesn't go flat.

Post op length 4.5 inches from ~ (5.5 to 6) inches. Disappointed!
Wish to have a revision to LGX some day.

It sounds like you somehow may be tripping the deflate button in your sleep. When you squeeze after awaking and find it deflating more, do you also feel the pump buzzing? If so, I believe that is the only logical explanation: Somehow the deflate button is being pressed while you are sleeping or you awoke, pressed deflate and drifted off again without any memory of said event.

One way to find out if the deflate button has been pressed is to press the pump bulb firmly. If you feel the reset "pop" or "click", then for sure the deflate state was activated somehow. Whether you hit the button while asleep or half-asleep as suggested or the valve is resetting itself (that would suggest a defect or the valve not fully set to inflate state the last time you inflated).

It is the one of the functions of the AMS Patient Liaison to help with questions like these. (That last statement should in NO WAY be construed as a suggestion that you not bring such questions here - we may have answers and FOR SURE, we want to know of questions like these ourselves. The community of implantees benefit by sharing these.)

I look forward to hearing other experiences and the answer to this one, too.

How fully do you leave yourself pumped at night as you sleep? That opens up another world of debate of benefits and dangers.

it seems unlikely that one could accidentally hit the deflate button while sleeping, unless you are half-asleep and purposefully deflate it , and , upon waking, not remember having done it. That seems unlikely too, but I guess it's possible. I do that with my CPAP mask ( I rip it off and dont remember doing it).

I think leaking back to the reservoir is the mostly likely explanation.
